Job Title: Manufacturing Technician Job Description
The Manufacturing Technician supports the setup and validation of a new manufacturing line transferred from another site. This role focuses on preparing and maintaining process documentation, generating and executing IQs on equipment and OQ/PQs on products, and developing clear operator instructions and training materials. The technician contributes to efficient, reliable production processes by combining hands-on manufacturing support with precise technical writing and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Generate IQ reports and perform installation qualifications (IQs) on manufacturing equipment to ensure proper installation and readiness for use.
- Develop OQ/PQ protocols, execute operational and performance qualifications (OQ/PQs) on products, and create comprehensive OQ/PQ reports.
- Generate and enter work instructions into SAP ECC based on existing documents, ensuring accurate and up-to-date process information in the system.
- Create clear, detailed work instructions and training manuals for production operators to support consistent and safe operation of the manufacturing line.
- Assist in the design of lean work cells, taking into account workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow efficiency, and equipment layout.
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation, including bills of materials (BOM), work instructions, manufacturing standard practices, setup sheets, and test methods for manufactured products.
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide data-driven input for production planning and management decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and other staff to review manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other factors that facilitate efficient production processes.
- Support the transfer and ramp-up of the new manufacturing line by ensuring documentation, equipment qualification, and operator training are completed accurately and on time.
- Troubleshoot and support production, assembly, electrical, mechanical, and repair activities as needed to maintain stable operations during line setup.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience in production and assembly within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand and work with manufacturing equipment.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repair of production equipment and processes.
- Ability to generate and execute IQs on equipment, including creating accurate IQ reports.
- Experience developing, executing, and documenting OQ/PQ protocols and reports for products and processes.
- Capability to create and enter detailed work instructions into SAP ECC or similar enterprise systems.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining manufacturing documentation such as BOMs, work instructions, standard practices, setup sheets, and test methods.
- Strong technical writing skills for creating operator instructions and training manuals.
- Ability to estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to support planning and decision-making.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with engineering, production, and other cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience supporting the setup or transfer of new manufacturing lines between sites.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and the design of efficient work cells.
- Comfort working with structured documentation frameworks and standardized manufacturing practices.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical documentation and data entry.
- Ability to interpret production schedules and align documentation and qualification activities with operational needs.
Work Environment
This role operates in a production and assembly environment that combines hands-on work with equipment and detailed documentation tasks. The Manufacturing Technician works closely with engineering, production, and other staff on the manufacturing floor and in office or documentation areas. The position involves interacting with electrical and mechanical equipment, participating in equipment qualification activities, and using systems such as SAP ECC to manage work instructions and manufacturing data. Work may require adherence to standard manufacturing attire and safety practices appropriate for a production setting, with a focus on efficient workflows, lean work cell design, and collaborative problem-solving.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $31.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
