About this role

Job Summary

The CAD Programmer is responsible for converting customer-generated geometry or drawings into the correct file format using CAD software. This role involves utilizing nesting software to generate programs for CNC equipment and troubleshooting specific applications as needed. The position reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Job Responsibilities

- CAD and CNC Software Use: Operate CAD software and CNC manufacturers programming software to create and manage engineering drawings and NC files.

- Drawing Interpretation: Interpret third and first-angle orthographic projections, GD&T, and customer drawings/specifications to create engineering drawings

- Coordination: Facilitate production and technical communications between customers, sales, and production teams

- File Management: Import CAD files into nesting software to generate NC files for CNC equipment. Identify appropriate applications (e.g., laser, oxyfuel, plasma, punching) as needed

- Nesting: Optimize material utilization and production efficiency by nesting parts on sheets or blanks

- Programming and Documentation: Program CNC equipment and document revisions as required

- Tooling and Fixtures Design: Assist with the design of tooling and fixtures

- Equipment Understanding: Maintain a thorough understanding of the equipment used for processing

- Efficiency Improvements: Provide input on efficiency improvements and conduct cost-benefit analyses of new tooling and application considerations

- Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory list of tooling and cutting parameters

- Program File Maintenance: Keep program files and setup sheets organized and up-to-date

- Additional Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned to support department goals

Qualifications

- Experience: 2+ years of practical CAD programming experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.

- Education: Two-year technical degree in Computer Programming, Computer-Aided Design, or equivalent experience.

- Software Proficiency:

- Physical Examination: Ability to pass a physical examination for vision, hearing, and mobility

- Reliability: Demonstrated reliable work history

- Attention to Detail: Must be detail-oriented with a strong focus on precision and quality in all tasks
