About this role
JOB SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Parks & Planning, the Custodian will be responsible for the cleanliness and general appearance of Park District facilities. The Custodian will work alone or in a team to clean and prepare facilities for programs and to be open to the public. The Custodian may also set up and clear rooms for rentals and programs taking place within district facilities. The H-F Park Districts mission statement is to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
- Maintain an overall clean and orderly condition in and around district buildings
- Perform specified cleaning tasks on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
- Identify safety or cleanliness issues and respond immediately
- Implement room set-ups and take-downs as needed
- Respond to customer requests, emergencies or spills as needed
- Maintain and monitor supplies and notify supervisor when need to be replenished
- Inform supervisor or other manager of problem areas noticed
- Conduct inspections and maintain inspection documents
- Suggest efficiency improvements and modifications to procedures and techniques
- Respond to work requests in a timely manner
- Attend staff and in-service training meetings
- Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Policy and Procedure Manual, Personnel Policy Manual, and Safety Manual
- Other related job duties as assigned.

Qualifications
JOB SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding and competency in basic custodial tasks
- Ability to operate floor scrubbing machine, carpet cleaner and other cleaning equipment
- Basic understanding of use of cleaning chemicals and safety precautions
- Ability to understand and implement building set-up diagrams
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Minimum high school graduate
- Two or more years experience in custodial tasks
- AED/CPR certified or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire

HOURS:
The Custodian will have standard business hours, typically Monday through Friday. Alternate hours
