Position Summary:
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist provides advanced clinical pharmacy services in inpatient settings, including medication therapy management, order verification, interdisciplinary collaboration, and patient-centered pharmaceutical care. Working as part of a collaborative healthcare team, this role partners closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals to support safe, effective, and individualized medication use. The Clinical Staff Pharmacist applies clinical judgment and evidence-based practice to optimize pharmacotherapy while ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards. Through precise documentation, clear communication, and shared accountability, this position contributes to high-quality patient outcomes and a well-coordinated inpatient care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and assess medication orders for safety, accuracy, and clinical appropriateness.
- Provide pharmacotherapy recommendations to prescribers and interdisciplinary teams.
- Participate in clinical rounds, consultations, and transitions of care activities.
- Educate patients and staff on medication use, safety standards, and treatment expectations.
- Monitor therapeutic outcomes and adjust recommendations based on evidence and guidelines.
Qualifications
Licenses and Certifications Required:
- Active Pharmacist Licensure in the State of North Dakota.

Experience Requirements:
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- Special Skills or Training Requirements:
- Typing skills necessary.
- Verbal and numeric ability necessary.
- Manual and finger dexterity necessary.
- Ability to apply knowledge of pharmacy and pharmacology in interpreting and filling physician's orders.
Physical Requirements:
The Clinical Staff Pharmacist requires mobility throughout clinical areas, extended periods of standing, and fine motor ability for medication verification and documentation. Occasional lifting of 20–30 pounds is required. Adequate vision, hearing, and communication skills are essential for safe pharmaceutical care.
Environmental Requirements:
Work is performed in inpatient, outpatient, and pharmacy environments with exposure to medications, automated systems, and frequent interruptions. PPE and safety compliance are required.
