Job Title: Production Scheduler Job Description
The Production Scheduler creates and maintains production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory objectives, and manufacturing capacity. This role collaborates closely with production, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to ensure materials are available, production priorities are met, and schedules are executed effectively. The position focuses on schedule creation and maintenance, inventory management, capacity planning support, material coordination, production tracking, and resolving supply chain disruptions within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain daily and weekly production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory targets, and manufacturing capacity.
- Coordinate production priorities across manufacturing operations to ensure on-time delivery and optimal use of resources.
- Work closely with production, supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to align schedules with material availability and operational constraints.
- Manage inventory levels by monitoring replenishment needs and material availability to support scheduled production.
- Utilize ERP/MRP systems to plan, schedule, and control inventory, ensuring accurate data and timely updates to production plans.
- Support capacity planning activities by providing schedule visibility and identifying potential bottlenecks or constraints.
- Track production performance against schedules and adjust plans as needed to address changes in demand, capacity, or material supply.
- Identify, analyze, and help resolve supply chain disruptions that impact production schedules and customer commitments.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based reports and forecasts to support scheduling, inventory management, and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve planning, scheduling, and inventory management processes.
- Support inventory forecasting and replenishment strategies to maintain appropriate stock levels and minimize shortages or excess.
- Communicate schedule changes, priorities, and material issues clearly and promptly to all relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to production planning, scheduling accuracy, and supply chain efficiency.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of production scheduling, planning, or materials management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience creating and managing daily and weekly production schedules.
- Strong experience with ERP and MRP systems for planning and inventory control.
- Ability to manage inventory levels, replenishment activities, and material availability to support production.
- Experience coordinating production priorities across manufacturing operations.
- Advanced Excel skills for reporting, forecasting, and schedule analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in a production and supply chain context.
- Solid understanding of supply chain, production, and material flow within manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt to changing demands.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Additional manufacturing planning experience may substitute for formal degree requirements.
- Experience supporting inventory forecasting and replenishment strategies preferred.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.
- Interest in developing advanced planning, scheduling, and inventory management expertise.
- Ability to collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supply chain leadership.
- Comfort working with end-to-end supply chain operations and manufacturing planning processes.
Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility environment and is primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor. The position is highly collaborative, involving regular communication with cross-functional teams across production, engineering, quality, purchasing, and supply chain. The work setting is fast-paced and requires effective prioritization, problem-solving, and responsiveness to daily production needs. This is an on-site role that directly supports daily production operations in a stable manufacturing environment with long-term career growth potential.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $60000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
