Job Title: Project Superintendent Job Description The Project Superintendent oversees all phases of industrial construction projects, from initial planning through completion. This role studies project specifications to develop detailed construction procedures, establishes staffing plans and schedules for each phase, and coordinates supervisory, clerical, engineering, and field personnel. The superintendent ensures that work progresses safely, efficiently, and in accordance with specifications, while maintaining clear communication with subcontractors, inspectors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. This position plays a key leadership role on site, managing crews, resolving construction challenges, and driving continuous improvement in construction methods and project execution. Responsibilities

- Review and study project specifications to plan construction procedures, establish starting and completion times, and determine staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
- Assemble and organize supervisory, clerical, engineering, and field workers at the start of each project to ensure the team is prepared and aligned with project goals.
- Order and coordinate the procurement of tools, equipment, and materials so they are delivered at specified times and in accordance with project work schedules.
- Direct and confer with supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
- Collaborate with supervisory personnel and company representatives to address and resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce in a fair and timely manner.
- Work closely with supervisory and project management personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods and processes.
- Inspect work in progress regularly to ensure workmanship meets project specifications and that construction activities adhere to established schedules.
- Prepare or review progress reports, including materials used and costs, and adjust work schedules based on report findings to keep the project on track.
- Direct workers involved in major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations, ensuring work is completed safely and to specification.
- Prepare and submit administrative documentation such as payroll, per diem records, daily reports, safety rosters, and other required project paperwork.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety rules and regulations, including OSHA requirements and any client and company safety policies.
- Provide on-the-job training, guidance, and mentoring to subordinate supervisors and crew members to support skill development and performance improvement.
- Partner with human resources and other supervisors to hire and/or transfer employees as needed to meet project staffing needs.
- Administer employee discipline and recognition, including issuing warnings, overseeing terminations, conducting evaluations, and recommending pay increases as appropriate.
- Manage 1–2 subordinate supervisors who oversee a construction crew of approximately 8–10 employees, and directly supervise 8–10 non-supervisory employees.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Lead onsite activities at industrial manufacturing facilities, ensuring crews are properly directed and work is executed safely and efficiently.

Essential Skills

- 4–10 years of experience with metal building and concrete construction.
- Strong industrial construction background, specifically in industrial manufacturing environments rather than commercial office building projects.
- Hands-on experience with steel erection and concrete construction in industrial settings.
- Proven construction supervision experience, including directing crews and coordinating multiple phases of work.
- Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and apply construction specifications and project documents.
- Ability to plan and manage construction schedules, staffing, and resource allocation across multiple project phases.
- Experience overseeing and coordinating subcontractors and supervisory personnel to prevent delays and maintain quality.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing both supervisory and non-supervisory employees on construction crews.
- Solid understanding of OSHA safety rules and regulations and the ability to enforce safety policies on site.
- Current valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work effectively in loud, dirty industrial manufacturing environments and maintain productivity and safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Commercial construction experience, particularly with metal buildings, is beneficial when combined with industrial construction expertise.
- Experience working in industrial manufacturing facilities and similar heavy industrial environments.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Certified Crane Operator credentials preferred.
- Ability to prepare and review detailed progress, cost, and material reports and adjust schedules accordingly.
- Strong communication skills for working with inspectors, suppliers, project management, and company representatives.
- Capability to provide effective on-the-job training and mentorship to subordinates.
- Experience conducting performance evaluations and administering rewards and disciplinary actions.
- Comfort with using company-provided technology such as laptops, tablets, and mobile phones for reporting and communication.

Work Environment This role is based primarily onsite at industrial manufacturing facilities, which are typically loud and dirty environments with active heavy equipment, steel erection, and concrete construction activities. The Project Superintendent works in the field directing teams, monitoring progress, and ensuring safety and quality in real time. The position includes the use of company-provided tools and technology such as a company truck, gas card, mobile phone, and laptop or tablet to support travel between job sites, communication, and project reporting. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
