Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Engineering Technician to support the evaluation and analysis of electrical and mechanical components and printed wiring boards (PWBs). This position will support Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) activities to determine compliance with applicable military, space, and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory or similar technical environment and be comfortable working with microscopes, precision measurement tools, soldering equipment, hand tools, and instrumentation. Candidates with relevant electronics testing, component repair, or back-shop avionics experience may also align well with this position, particularly when their experience includes bench-level electronics work, soldering, microscopy, electrical test equipment, dimensional measurement, and technical troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and analyze electrical and mechanical components and printed wiring boards (PWBs) .
- Perform detailed inspection and analysis using microscopes and optical equipment .
- Take dimensional measurements using calipers, rulers, optical measurement equipment, and similar tools .
- Utilize hand tools, basic power tools, soldering equipment, and instrumentation .
- Troubleshoot machinery, equipment, and technical test setups.
- Support Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) and component evaluation activities.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, procedures, and technical documentation .
- Accurately document measurements, observations, test results, and findings.
- Work closely with engineers, analysts, and other technicians in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience working in an analytical laboratory environment .
- Familiarity with microscopes or microscopy tools .
- Experience taking dimensional measurements using calipers, rulers, optical measurement equipment, or similar tools .
- Familiarity with hand tools, basic power tools, soldering, and instrumentation .
- Experience troubleshooting machinery and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds .
- Ability to perform detailed work requiring close vision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is highly desirable:
- Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) or failure analysis
- Microsectioning or chemical deprocessing
- Military standards, performance specifications, and component-related documentation
- Digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical test equipment
- Printed wiring board (PWB) assembly
- IC or hybrid assembly
- Plating or other relevant manufacturing processes
- Basic chemistry knowledge
- Soldering and electronic component work
- Technical report writing and documentation
- CAD and the ability to read schematic diagrams
- Designing custom fixtures for 3D printing
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, or similar documentation/reporting programs

Education
- High school diploma or technical/trade-school education with 2+ years of relevant experience .
- Associate or bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field is preferred but not required .
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work 100% on-site in El Segundo, CA .
- Must be a U.S. Citizen .
- Must be able to complete required background and drug screening .
- Must be open to occasional overtime or swing-shift support based on program needs.

## Ideal Candidate: A detail-oriented, mechanically inclined technician with hands-on analytical lab experience who is comfortable working with electronic components, microscopy, dimensional measurement, soldering, instrumentation, and troubleshooting. Experience with DPA, failure analysis, microsectioning, deprocessing, or electrical component testing is highly desirable.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.09 - $35.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
