ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greeting and welcoming guests in a friendly and professional way, ensuring a positive first and/or last impression for the establishment.
Assist guests in understanding the menu, making recommendations, and answering questions about ingredients or dietary restrictions
Follow established procedures for order modifications, special requests, and substitutions.
Know menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods, and specials.
Proactively upsell and promote menu items, including beverages, sides, and desserts, to enhance the customer experience and increase sales.
Ensure that all condiments, utensils, and supplies are adequately stocked and readily available.
Assist in restocking food and beverage items as needed.
Stay up to date with menu items, pricing, and promotions to accurately answer guest questions and make suggestions when required.
Accurately process cash, credit card, and digital (tap, phone-based) payment transactions using the operations POS system, maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Calculate and provide guests with correct change and receipts, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial transactions.
Handle guest inquiries, resolve complaints or issues promptly and courteously, and escalate matters to the supervisor or manager when necessary.
Maintain a clean and organized cashier station, including cash drawer and surrounding areas, to ensure a visually appealing and efficient work environment.
Collaborate with the kitchen and waitstaff to ensure timely and accurate order processing and communicate any special requests or modifications effectively.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including cash handling protocols, safety and security measures, and food safety regulations.
Assist in other front-of-house tasks as needed, including assisting with to-go orders.
Continuously strive to improve customer service by seeking feedback, staying updated on industry trends and implementing best practices from the management team.
Support a positive and inclusive work environment by respecting and cooperating with colleagues.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all the duties described in the preceding in an efficient and competent manner. Previous experience in a cash-handling role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
Excellent mathematical and numerical skills, with the ability to handle cash transactions accurately and quickly.
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse customers and team members.
Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and the ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with using a POS system and other relevant software applications is an advantage.
Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure and handle/de-escalate difficult situations professionally.
Must be able to listen when customers have problems or concerns with their orders and respond to their questions appropriately.
Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the restaurant's needs.
A commitment to maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and personal grooming standards in accordance with operation policies.
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in customer service or hospitality are an asset.

Physical Demands and Conditions

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; and use the hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools or controls;

- The employee must frequently walk, talk or hear, and reach with the hands and arms; occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel;

- The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 15 pounds carrying boxes of records and forms and frequently exert or lift negligible amounts of weight;

- Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision and the ability to adjust focus including possessing sufficient visual acuity to verify invoices and other written documents;

- Be able to lift up to 50 pounds at least once per shift, carrying industrial‑sized containers of food products, bulk‑packaged items, trash containers, etc.;

- Be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racks and storage areas;

- Be able to sweep and mop floors and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin;

- Have sufficient physical mobility or agility to be able to respond quickly to fire or other emergencies such as cleanup requests due to accidental spills or breakage of glass;

- Be able to stock coolers and shelves and endure working under temperature extremes in both refrigerated storage and heated cooking areas up to 20 minutes at a time;

- Be able to work with fresh meat, fruits, vegetables, spices, sauces, flour and other food products without negative allergic consequences that affect performance;

- Be able to tolerate moderate amounts of dust and chemical fumes from common household cleaning agents such as ammonia during routine housekeeping duties;

- Have sufficient memory retention skills to memorize weekly ad prices and menu items.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment conditions described below are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. It may be possible to modify some circumstances to accommodate individuals with disabilities:

- The work environment includes occasional exposure to low temperatures;

- The work environment includes frequent exposure to or near heated ovens and high temperatures;

- Access to break rooms, offices and all employee restrooms require ascending/descending a flight of stairs; there are no restrooms at street level nor are there any public restrooms available elsewhere on the premises;

- Typically, the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
