Your Opportunity
Recognized globally, the Department of Radiation Oncology trains the next generation of leaders, fosters a culture of innovation, knowledge exchange and translation, and contributes to the Radiation Medicine community, as well as the broader health and public policy systems. The administrative team is responsible for facilitating and supporting the advancement of Radiation Medicine through education, research and innovation, and the training of future Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and Radiation Therapists.
As Business Manager, you will work closely with the Department Chair to provide strategic and operational leadership across the Department’s administrative functions, including finance, human resources, academic and educational administration, and space and facilities management. You will lead a team of unionized administrative staff, oversee effective departmental operations, and build strong relationships with University and hospital partners to support the Department’s teaching and research priorities. Drawing on strong financial acumen, sound judgment and collaborative leadership, you will help advance the Department’s academic and operational goals.
Essential Qualifications
- University degree in business, accounting, or finance or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in administrative, financial and human resource management, preferably in a university or hospital environment
- Demonstrated experience with budget planning, forecasting, financial analysis and reporting
- Demonstrated experience managing and leading staff in a unionized environment, including team building and managing change
- Experience planning and executing conferences and events
- Experience resolving space and facilities management matters
- Experience applying university budget models and financial policies, procedures and guidelines
- Demonstrated knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, routine collective agreement interpretation, labour and employment standards, and health and safety requirements
- Demonstrated experience liaising with senior administrators on complex and sensitive administrative matters
- Strong proficiency with MS Office, including advanced proficiency in Word and Excel, and knowledge of enterprise administrative systems such as AMS, FIS and HRIS
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach
- Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with sound judgment and the ability to navigate complex issues
