Sr. Accountant (Accounting & AP Manager)

This role is open to candidates based in LATAM, Africa, and Eastern Europe. Please note that as this role supports U.S.-based clients, candidates must be available to work during U.S. business hours aligned with the client’s time zone.

As the business grows, they are looking for an experienced accounting professional to help strengthen their financial operations, maintain accurate records, support day-to-day accounting processes, and improve scalability across their finance workflows.

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager will own the company’s day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting, and payroll coordination.

This person will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial records, timely payments, and clean reporting while helping improve accounting processes and leverage automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Bookkeeping

- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries.
- Record transactions based on the company’s chart of accounts.
- Perform monthly bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare trial balances and support month-end close processes.
- Maintain accurate bookkeeping records in accounting software.

Accounts Payable

- Manage vendor invoice processing and payment workflows.
- Review and code invoices accurately.
- Manage payment batches through platforms such as RAMP.
- Coordinate vendor payments, ACH transfers, and approvals.
- Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments.

Financial Reporting

- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Provide visibility into company financial performance.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues.
- Support leadership with accurate financial data.

Payroll & Expenses

- Process payroll through Gusto.
- Review employee expense reports and reimbursements.
- Ensure proper documentation and approvals.

Tax & Compliance Support

- Support preparation of 1099s and other required filings.
- Assist with sales tax filings as needed.
- Coordinate with external CPA and tax professionals.

Process Improvement & Automation

- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows.
- Leverage automation and AI tools to improve efficiency.
- Help transition manual accounting processes into scalable systems.

Qualifications

Experience

- 4+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related finance role.
- Strong experience managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger management, transaction coding, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Experience with month-end close processes and preparing financial statements or management reports.
- Experience processing vendor invoices, payments, ACH transfers, and expense reports.
- Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting payroll processes and working with payroll platforms such as Gusto is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with external CPAs, tax professionals, or accounting partners.

- Take ownership of day-to-day accounting activities, including AP processing and transaction management.
- Ensure invoices, payments, and financial records are accurately maintained.
- Build strong communication workflows with leadership and external finance partners.

First 60–90 Days

- Independently manage core accounting operations and AP workflows.
- Maintain accurate reconciliations and support timely month-end close processes.
- Improve organization and visibility across financial records and reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and reduce manual work through automation.

Long-Term Success

- Serve as a reliable owner of the company’s accounting operations.
- Provide leadership with accurate and timely financial information.
- Maintain clean, organized books and scalable accounting processes as the company continues to grow.
- Help improve efficiency by implementing better workflows, systems, and automation where possible.
