Alumicore is a Pittsburgh, PA based company in the aluminum melting operations industry. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive, and high-end specialty markets.
The Plant Electrician will be responsible to support the operation, maintenance, and continued buildout of our industrial facility. This position will work closely with maintenance, operations, equipment vendors, and plant management to troubleshoot electrical and controls issues, support equipment installation and commissioning, and help keep production equipment running safely and reliably. Because we are currently building and commissioning a new plant, candidates with experience in industrial controls, PLCs, VFDs, and automated equipment are especially desirable.
This is a shift position, with 8-hour or 10-hour shift options, out of our Monessen, PA facility.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical problems on plant machinery and equipment
- Diagnose issues involving motors, motor starters, contactors, relays, sensors, switches, and control circuits
- Troubleshoot and maintain 480V three-phase industrial electrical systems
- Work with VFDs, motor controls, electrical control panels, and automated equipment
- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, I/O, sensors, interlocks, and basic control logic
- Assist with startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of new production equipment
- Work with OEMs, integrators, and outside contractors during equipment installation and plant expansion
- Perform electrical installation work for new machinery and plant improvements
- Run conduit, pull wire, terminate circuits, and install electrical components as needed
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical equipment
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and work with maintenance and operations to return equipment to service
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, control diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Help identify recurring electrical or controls problems and recommend permanent repairs or improvements
- Follow plant electrical safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and applicable electrical codes
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing electrical experience, with a strong electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with 480V three-phase systems.
- Experience with motos, VFDs, starters, sensors, relays, and industrial controls.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot control circuits
- Basic computer proficiency preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to enforce quality and safety standards consistently.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair manuals and technical literature.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a physically demanding, high-heat, deadline-driven, and production-focused setting.
- Working is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, heat, dust, materials from operational area, molten metal, and extreme temperature variations.
- Regular outside work required with exposure to weather conditions of extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift, and must be comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms when required.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Climbing stairs and working at varying heights as required.
- See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
