Alumicore is a Pittsburgh, PA based company in the aluminum melting operations industry. We work alongside our customers to provide innovative solutions to the aerospace, beverage can, automotive, and high-end specialty markets.
The Maintenance Technician will be responsible to service and maintain all equipment including but not limited to, powered industrial equipment, mobile equipment, conveyors, furnace combustion systems, plumbing, rotary/holder furnaces, and ventilation equipment. In this role, you will also be responsible for building trades—including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical work—as well as mechanical troubleshooting on stationary and mobile equipment.
This is a shift position, with 8-hour or 10-hour shift options, out of our Monessen, PA facility.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform general repair work across the premises, including drywall patch/repair, interior/exterior painting, custom framing, and basic carpentry projects.
- Inspect, repair, and maintain facility plumbing fixtures, piping, leaks, valves, and drainage systems.
- Perform routine electrical upkeep, including replacing fixtures, switches, outlets, ballast replacements, perform installation or repair work on motors, wiring, & control cabinets; and basic wiring troubleshooting under proper safety standards.
- Routinely inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment, systems, and machinery across the site to restore equipment to proper operating condition.
- Perform welding fabrication and weld repair.
- Execute routine and preventive maintenance (PM) schedules for both stationary plant/facility equipment and mobile fleet vehicles or machinery.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, or system failures to restore equipment to safe working order rapidly.
- Accurately document and maintain comprehensive records of all maintenance activities, routine inspections, parts inventory usage, and completed work orders.
- Independently manage daily work queues, balancing urgent repair requests with routine preventive maintenance to consistently meet operational timelines.
- Strictly follow all established safety procedures, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Conduct routine walk-throughs to identify potential safety hazards, ensuring all tools, equipment, and work zones remain secure and compliant.
- Assist the Maintenance Lead person/Maintenance Manager and/or Operations Manager with the supervision of design, installation and maintenance of all needed plant repairs, projects, equipment and or facilities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade training preferred.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in general facilities maintenance/trade profession, commercial property maintenance, or industrial equipment repair is required.
- Demonstrated capability in basic electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, and painting techniques.
- Strong diagnostic and technical troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving mechanical equipment issues.
- Basic computer proficiency preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to enforce quality and safety standards consistently.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, repair manuals and technical literature.
Working Conditions:
- Work in a physically demanding, high-heat, deadline-driven, and production-focused setting.
- Working is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, heat, dust, materials from operational area, molten metal, and extreme temperature variations.
- Regular outside work required with exposure to weather conditions of extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift, and must be comfortable working from ladders, scaffolding, or elevated platforms when required.
- Frequent lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. Climbing stairs and working at varying heights as required.
- See, hear, talk, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas.
- Willing and able to work overtime when needed.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
