About this role

Solutions Engineer (IT) – Basingstoke Area
Up to £45,000 + Van + Overtime

(Internal Job Level Reference: Specialist Team Leader)

Focus Group is a technology services company backed by Hg Capital, providing essential business technology to around 30,000 customers across the UK. We're scaling fast, and our Operations team is at the heart of making sure every customer gets a punctual, efficient and genuinely great service experience.

We're looking for an IT Solutions Engineer to join us covering parts of Surrey, Berkshire and Hampshire , providing remote and onsite support and installations for customers ranging from SME to enterprise. You'll ideally live in the Basingstoke area and be out visiting different customer sites across your area most days, so this role suits someone who enjoys variety and being hands-on rather than desk-bound.

You'll be a subject matter expert in one or more of the following areas, and will lead projects related to your specialism:

- Networking (VLANs, routing, wireless, Ekahau, Meraki, SonicWall, Cisco, Aruba)
- Server & storage (Windows Server, storage, Hyper-V, VMware, M365 & Azure)
- Cloud (M365, Azure, Intune, SharePoint)

What you'll be doing

- Providing high quality customer experience for the installation and maintenance of customers' ICT solutions, remotely and onsite
- Acting as an escalation point for complex faults within your area of specialism
- Leading the delivery of small, medium and large projects as part of a team
- Auditing and documenting client infrastructure and site surveys to a high standard
- Attending customer calls for technical discussions, scoping and design
- Mentoring and supporting other engineers, sharing best practice and technical leadership

What we're looking for

- Prior experience in an IT support or delivery role, ideally within an MSP
- Subject matter expert level knowledge in at least one of the specialisms above, plus solid generalist technical knowledge
- Confident troubleshooter, able to architect solutions within your area of expertise
- A full valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites across Central London most days
- Flexibility to adjust hours or stay overnight for larger project work when needed

It would be great, but isn't essential, if you've worked in an IT managed service environment before, or hold relevant vendor certifications (Microsoft, Meraki, SonicWall, Aruba or Cisco), including active certifications such as MS-101, MS-100, AZ-104 or AZ-140.

What's in it for you

- Salary up to £45,000
- Company van and provided
- Overtime available
- Clear progression routes into roles such as Team Manager, Technical Consultant or Technical Pre-Sales Consultant
- The chance to work with a wide range of technologies and customers, from SME to enterprise
