About the Role

As a Senior Business Analyst within the Chief Transformation Office, you will play a key role in helping ANZ deliver strategic, regulatory, risk, productivity and changes required for the most significant reforms to Financial Crime & External Fraud risk in Australia.

Working closely with business and delivery stakeholders, you will analyse current and future state processes, define business requirements, assess impacts, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the delivery of sustainable business outcomes.

The role serves as a critical link between business and delivery teams, translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements and ensuring solutions are practical, fit-for-purpose, and aligned to strategic objectives and intended benefits..

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will provide leadership and mentoring to Business Analysts, driving capability, consistency and delivery excellence.

What will your day look like?

As a Senior Business Analyst, you are accountable for:

Business Analysis & Requirements

- Elicit, analyse, document and validate business requirements

- Translate business needs into clear, concise and actionable requirements

- Develop user stories, process maps, use cases and functional specifications

- Support prioritisation and management of requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle

Problem Solving & Process Improvement

- Analyse current-state processes and identify opportunities for improvement

- Assess impacts across people, process, technology, risk and controls

- Facilitate workshops to identify root causes, issues and solution options

- Recommend practical solutions that improve customer, employee or business outcomes

Stakeholder Engagement

- Build effective relationships with business and delivery stakeholders

- Facilitate discussions and workshops to gain alignment on requirements and solutions

- Communicate complex concepts in a clear and simple way for different audiences

- Support decision making through data, analysis and evidence-based recommendations

Delivery Support

- Work closely with Project Managers, Change Managers, SMEs and Technology teams

- Support business readiness, testing, implementation and transition activities

- Assist with dependency management, issue resolution and risk identification

- Ensure delivered solutions meet agreed business requirements and objectives

Governance & Controls

- Maintain traceability of requirements and business decisions

- Ensure alignment with ANZ delivery frameworks, governance requirements and risk standards

- Contribute to project reporting, status updates and governance artefacts

- Support audit, risk and compliance activities where required

Leadership & Capability

- Provide guidance and mentorship to Business Analysts and junior team members

- Promote business analysis standards, methods and best practices

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis frameworks, templates and delivery approaches

- Support quality assurance of requirements, process models and business analysis artefacts

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

‘Must have’ knowledge, skills and experiences

- 10+ years experience in business analysis, process improvement or change delivery

- Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills

- Process mapping and impact assessment experience

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at multiple levels

- Experience working in project, program or transformation environments

- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously

‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences

- Experience in financial crime, AML/CTF, scams, sanctions, regulatory reform or other high-risk transformation programs.

- Banking or financial services experience

- Experience delivering regulatory, risk, remediation or compliance programs

- Experience working within Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery methodologies

- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Signavio, ARIS, Power BI or similar tools

- Knowledge of business architecture, operating model design and target-state development

Qualifications

- Degree qualification in Business, Commerce, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience

- Diploma of Business Analysis (Australian Institute of Business Analysis)

- Business Analysis certification (IIBA, BABOK or equivalent)

Other Potential Qualifications

- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

- Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA)

- Agile Business Analyst Certification (IIBA-AAC)

- Process improvement qualifications desirable, such as Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
