About Zapp

Zapp is London’s leading premium convenience retail platform. Founded in 2020, our vision is to disrupt the multi-trillion dollar convenience retail market by developing best-in-class customer-centric technology and fulfillment solutions. Zapp partners with some of the world’s leading brands to deliver an exclusive range of hand-picked products 24/7, delivered in minutes.

The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Operations Recruiter to own how Zapp finds, attracts, and hires the frontline talent that keeps our Fulfilment Centres running. This is a high-volume, fast-moving recruitment role. You will own the end-to-end hiring process for frontline Operations from sourcing and assessing candidates through to offer acceptance, the onboarding day and first shift, and you will be accountable for key metrics: vacancies filled, time-to-hire, candidate conversion, and quality of hire.

Responsible for meeting the critical hiring demands of Fulfilment Center operations, the Operations Recruiter directly supports Zapp’s aggressive growth plans. Operating as a strategic partner to Operations leadership, the incumbent will align on both short- and long-term staffing requirements. They will design and execute robust candidate generation and sourcing strategies tailored for high-volume recruitment as well as specialized positions, all while delivering an exceptional candidate experience. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record of innovative thinking, strategic execution, and complex problem-solving.

Responsibilities

The role includes a combination of the following tasks:

- Own end-to-end recruitment for frontline Operations roles across Zapp’s Fulfilment Centre network, from sourcing and screening through to offer, onboarding day and first shift.
- Deliver high-volume recruitment across multiple sites, ensuring vacancies are filled quickly without compromising quality.
- Partner with Fulfilment Centre Managers and Central Operations to translate workforce requirements into clear hiring plans by site.
- Build and maintain strong candidate pipelines for recurring Operations roles through job boards, referrals, direct sourcing and local recruitment channels.
- Manage flexible-staffing suppliers alongside permanent hiring, briefing agencies on site requirements and holding them to agreed volumes, lead times and quality standards.
- Review applications, conduct initial screening and coordinate interviews with hiring teams.
- Plan and run assessment centres end to end, including scheduling the day, briefing and supporting assessors, facilitating the session, leading the debrief and hiring decisions, and releasing offers within the same week.
- Run internal assessment processes for progression roles, including Shift Supervisor, alongside external Fulfilment Centre hiring.
- Manage candidate communication throughout the recruitment process, ensuring a fast, clear and positive candidate experience.
- Coordinate offers and pre-employment compliance, including right-to-work checks, background checks and supporting documentation, ensuring candidates are cleared and ready to start on time.
- Own referencing end to end, chasing referees who do not respond, tracing correct contacts where employer details are out of date or undeliverable, and exercising judgement on what constitutes acceptable evidence.
- Plan and run onboarding days for new starters, delivering the induction session on Zapp’s policies, ways of working and what the first weeks look like, using content owned by People & Culture.
- Partner with Fulfilment Centre Managers to schedule each new starter’s first shifts and training shifts, and issue the welcome email setting out their training plan, so that new colleagues join a published rota at a site that is expecting them.
- Own TeamTailor as the system of record for hiring, keeping vacancies, candidate stages and pipeline data accurate and up to date.
- Track and report key recruitment metrics including vacancies, time-to-hire, candidate conversion, offer acceptance and quality of hire.
- Use recruitment data, AI and automation to identify bottlenecks, improve conversion and make Zapp’s hiring process faster and more effective.

Qualifications

- 3+ years in recruitment or talent acquisition, ideally high-volume or frontline hiring within retail, grocery, hospitality, logistics, warehousing or another high-volume frontline environment (in-house or agency).
- Highly data-driven, comfortable owning a recruitment funnel and using the numbers to diagnose and fix problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write a job advert people actually want to reply to.
- Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to run many live vacancies at once.
- Working knowledge of UK right-to-work requirements, including time-limited permissions such as student visas, with sound judgement on what counts as acceptable evidence.
- Practical experience of running assessment centres and onboarding days in person, and of owning referencing and pre-employment checks directly.
- Experience owning an applicant tracking system (TeamTailor or similar) as the single source of pipeline data, and of managing flexible-staffing suppliers alongside permanent recruitment.
- Hands-on and comfortable spending time in Fulfilment Centres to understand the roles, teams and operational environment first-hand.
