Position Summary:
The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in providing excellent customer service and supporting the daily operations of the Queensborough Community College Food Services. This part-time position is responsible for serving food, assisting customers, maintaining a clean dining environment, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Greet and assist students, faculty, staff, and guests in a courteous and professional manner.
• Serve food and beverages quickly and efficiently while following portion and quality guidelines.
• Operate cash registers, handle payments, and provide accurate change when assigned.
• Restock serving lines, condiment stations, and beverage areas as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of service counters, dining areas, and equipment.
• Assist in setup and breakdown of service areas during meal periods and campus events.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health code requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Dining Services Supervisor or Manager.
• Support kitchen as needed, including light food prep.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in food service, customer service, or cafeteria operations is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow directions accurately.
• Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices preferred.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move up to 25 lbs.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team setting.
• Food Protection Certificate (FPC) required.
• High school diploma/GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Work Schedule:
• Part-time position; must be available for shifts during food services operating hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, or weekends.
Pay Range:
$18 to $18 per hour
