About this role

Overall Objectives of Job

We are seeking a Solution Architect to design and own the target architecture for the Tribe's product(s) within the BMP Area and to support agile Squads in building the architectural product roadmap on top of group architecture standards. The role synchronizes architectural solutions across Squads, resolves architectural differences and dependencies, and defines the critical non-functional requirements — performance, scalability, resilience, security, and observability — for the overarching Tribe solution architecture. It covers solution architecture for BMP components within the Tribe's scope, including integration with Global Shared Services (Decision Management, Output Management, Document Management), and the design of APIs and integration patterns within the BMP API Ecosystem so capabilities remain interoperable and reusable across Operating Entities (OEs). Working closely with the Area Architect and contributing to the Local Design Authority, the Solution Architect keeps Tribe-level architecture aligned to the Area's target architecture and roadmap, keeps documentation current in the architecture master tools, and manages temporary solutions and technical debt to drive continuous improvement of system health.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

- 8–12 years of overall IT experience, with substantial hands-on experience in solution architecture for large-scale enterprise platforms.

- Proven experience designing distributed systems, microservices, and API-first architectures.

- Strong understanding of domain-driven design (DDD) and its application to enterprise platforms.

- Experience with cloud-native architectures (containerization, orchestration, serverless).

- Solid understanding of the insurance domain (policy lifecycle, claims, underwriting, or sales).

- Experience working within Agile/ SAFe frameworks, including PI Planning and architectural runway.

- Ability to define and drive non-functional requirements (performance, scalability, security).

- Strong communication skills — ability to articulate architectural decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Experience managing technical debt and driving system health improvements.

- Knowledge of event-driven architecture and messaging patterns.

- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.

- Familiarity with GenAI solutions and their integration into enterprise platforms.

- Understanding of Global Domain Models and data architecture.

- Experience with architecture documentation tools (e.g., LeanIX , Sparx EA, or similar).

- Experience working in a global delivery model across multiple geographies and OEs.

- Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Role & Responsibilities

- Target Architecture Design: Design the Tribe's product(s) target architecture and support agile Squads in creating the architectural product roadmap based on group architecture standards.

- Architecture Alignment: Synchronize architectural solutions among agile Squads and resolve architectural differences and dependencies within the Tribe.

- Non-Functional Requirements: Define critical non-functional requirements for the overarching Tribe solution architecture (performance, scalability, resilience, security, observability).

- Cross-Tribe Dependencies: Manage architectural interdependencies with products of other agile Tribes within or outside the BMP Area.

- Architecture Documentation: Ensure the Tribe's product architecture is documented and up to date in the respective architecture master tools.

- Group Standards Compliance: Ensure the Tribe's product(s) architecture conforms to group architectural standards and target architecture.

- Technical Debt Management: Manage temporary solutions and technical debt at the Tribe level, driving continuous improvement of system health.

- Squad Enablement: Provide architectural guidance and support to agile Squads on technology choices, integration patterns, and design decisions.

- BMP Platform Architecture: Define and evolve solution architecture for BMP components within the Tribe's scope, including integration with Global Shared Services (e.g., Decision Management, Output Management, Document Management).

- API & Integration Design: Architect APIs and integration patterns within the BMP API Ecosystem, ensuring interoperability and reusability across Operating Entities (OEs).

- Area Architect Collaboration: Work closely with the Area Architect to ensure alignment between Tribe-level architecture and the Area's target architecture and roadmap.

- Design Authority Participation: Participate in the Local Design Authority (on demand) and contribute to architectural decision-making processes.

- Security Architecture: Ensure security architecture principles are followed in the design and implementation of services within the Tribe.

- Agile Values: Promote agile values, principles, and ways of working within the architectural practice.

Key Result Areas

- Quality, completeness, and adoption of the Tribe's target architecture and architectural roadmap.

- Alignment of Squad-level solutions with group architecture standards and the Area's target architecture.

- Non-functional requirements defined, measurable, and met across the Tribe's products.

- Currency and completeness of architecture documentation in the architecture master tools.

- Reduction of technical debt and measurable improvement in system health.

- Reusability and interoperability of APIs and integration patterns across Operating Entities.
