Are you driven by problem solving? Do you thrive working with complex and large equipment? Look no further, we are expanding our team of Commissioning Engineers with strong mechanical competence.
We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team at MacGregor Busan, Korea. In this role, you will execute commissioning and warranty work onboard ships for equipment including, but not limited to Deck Machinery, Steering Gear, and Rudder Carriers. You will also provide technical expertise and field insights to support fabrication, design, contract management, R&D, and logistics operations. We are engaged in documenting, follow and create safe procedures. In this role, you will contribute to make a difference.
This role requires extensive travel to client sites, shipyards, and vessels domestically. Given our global client base, high flexibility is essential. While primary duties are on-site, you may be assigned to office-based work as needed. Our office is located in Busan, so living within commuting distance is essential.
This position reports to the Technical Management Manager, located in Busan, South-Korea.
More tasks and responsibilities
- Deliver direct field execution and support by planning and performing commissioning work on board, offering contractual customer assistance, and managing claims during the guarantee period
- Provide valuable technical feedback and quality improvement by identifying design faults, highlighting operational issues, recommending solutions to prevent recurrence, and feeding continuous improvement proposals back to technical engineer
- Maintain complete documentation and reporting by generating detailed commissioning reports, uploading files via Alfresco, and recording claim data in NC Tool Salesforce to handle subcontractor issues
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and sales support by assisting with sales activities, participating in quality control, and collaborating closely with internal commissioning teams
What you’ll need to succeed
Our ideal candidate is a mechanical expert who also has hands-on experience with electrical and hydraulic systems. Ideally you have:
- Bachelor’ s or Technical education at college in Mechatronics
- Basic Hydraulics and Electric knowledge and experience is needed
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience
- Previous experience with Siemens drives or/and TIA Portal is beneficial
- Experience from commissioning of offshore, ship or rig related equipment
- Strong understanding of marine product lines, operational processes, and customer business needs on-site
- Background in quality control and quality management system implementation is an advantage
- Good technical English, spoken and written
