What You'll Do
The Business Operations Senior Specialist plays a key role in the Korea office, reporting to the Head of Operations. This is an individual contributor role responsible for managing local procurement processes and vendor relationships, coordinating and executing office meetings and events, and supporting employee travel for the Korea office.
The role serves as a trusted point of contact for employees across all three areas, working closely with global teams (Global Procurement, Global Meetings & Events, Global Travel) where relevant, while independently managing day-to-day operations for the Korea office.
Please note that the responsibilities outlined below reflect the role's current scope and may expand or evolve over time based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Meetings & Events
- Act as the program manager for regular office-wide, all-staff events as well as ad hoc or one-time events hosted by the Korea office, overseeing planning through on-the-day execution
- Support and collaborate with other teams and departments organizing their own events, ensuring consistency with office standards
- Serve as the local coordinator and point of contact for global events hosted in Korea — a responsibility expected to grow as Korea becomes part of the global venue rotation
- Manage relationships with relevant vendors (venues, catering, event/travel agencies, etc.) to ensure high-quality, cost-effective event delivery
Travel
- Serve as the primary point of contact for BCG Korea employees on travel policy, process, and booking platform (e.g., Amex GBT, NEO) questions.
- Support employees with travel arrangements and issue resolution, including bookings, changes, and disruptions, escalating to Global Travel or the travel management company where needed.
- Maintain relationships with local travel vendors (travel agency, ground transportation, preferred hotels, etc.) and ensure adherence to corporate travel agreements.
- Monitor travel spend and compliance with travel policy, analyzing patterns to identify cost-saving or process improvement opportunities.
- Support traveler safety and emergency response for Korea-based travel, coordinating with Global Travel/Risk teams on traveler tracking and incident response as needed.
- Partner with Global Travel on the rollout of new tools, policies, or programs, providing local input and supporting change management for the Korea office.
Local Procurement
- Serve as the primary point of contact for BCG Korea employees on procurement-related policy, process, and platform (e.g., Coupa, Fieldglass) questions, providing guidance to both employees and vendors
- Maintain visibility across all local office purchasing activity and new vendor onboarding, ensuring adherence to company policy and global guidelines
- Identify situations that require Global Procurement team involvement per global guidelines, escalate appropriately, and partner with Global Procurement on relevant sourcing or vendor matters
- Manage the end-to-end local procurement process to ensure a smooth, timely experience for requestors and vendors
- Maintain accurate procurement records and analyze spend data across the office to identify opportunities for cost or process optimization (e.g., consolidating recurring, team-level purchases into firm-wide master agreements where beneficial)
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in operations, procurement, administration, travel, or event management, ideally within a professional services or fast-paced corporate environment
- Familiarity with procurement, travel, or vendor management systems (e.g., Coupa, Fieldglass) is a plus
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership and follow-through
- Comfortable serving as a point of contact for employees, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with sound judgment on when to escalate
- Analytical mindset, with comfort interpreting spend and compliance data to identify practical improvement opportunities
- Proactive, service-oriented, and adaptable, with the flexibility to take on responsibilities beyond this description as the role evolves
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential client and company information
- Fluent in Korean and English, both written and spoken
