Associate Manager Tool and Die, Can Stamping (m/w/d) - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

The Role

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Tool and Die / Process Engineering Manager, who will be responsible for the Can Stamping Tool and Die / Process Engineering consisting of Cupping, Deep-Drawing, Washing and Drying for the Gigafactory in Berlin. You will also be responsible to support the future capacity expansion. Within this role you will be team member in the Stamping team.

- Reports to Senior Manager Stamping Operations
- Manages and leads Tool and Die Maintenance Supervisors as well as Process Engineers, develops the team structures and training programs as well hiring plans
- Acts based on directions by the Senior Manager and undertakes actions for tool and die maintenance as well as products / processes improvement in operations
- Responsible for executing the job with focus on cost, quality and timing
- Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions within the home organization
- Builds and maintains an attitude of team player to fellow positions to attached and interacting organizations
- Supports key shop metrics: First Time Through, Overall Equipment Efficiency, Safety, Quality Targets and Daily Production Plan and develops own key performance indicators for die lifetime, maintenance cycles, maintenance costs per hit
- Supports and meets all business plans, capacity & headcount targets, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Acts in accordance with environmental, health and safety regulations
- Acts in accordance with compliance and security regulations
- Updates and documents Process FMEA and contributes to zero-defect policy
- Supports and manages continuous improvement activities in safety, environmental, quality, cost, efficiency, and productivity objectives; provide feedback to management on issues; benchmark other organizations for best practices
- Ensures consistency in standards and documentation as well monitors and ensures compliance
- Supports new product and material introductions, interact with design team to coordinate new model launches
- Monitors and evaluates product key characteristics and interact with Quality Management Team to correct, contain, and resolve cell and battery quality concerns
- Administer, coordinate, and comply with all Business Management Systems (BMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS) requirements

- Bachelor / Master of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering. The equivalent in experience is also acceptable with evidence of exceptional ability
- Previous experience in working in and acting with multiple groups of professionals
- Previous experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing (beverage among others) is highly desired
- Previous experience in tool and die maintenance including die design, coating, milling and grinding to highest precision
- Previous experience in (high-speed-)stamping manufacturing
- Strong knowledge of CATIA as well as Autoform
- Advanced knowledge of requirements by OSHA, ANSI and ISO
- Solidly organized, with meticulous attention to detail
- Experience with structured problem-solving methodology
- Able to work under intense time pressure in the presence others
- Mastery of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio / Project, Jira, Confluence
- Travel is included, including some internationally may be required from time to time
- Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent in German and English language skills
