Office Survey Specialist

** Please Note: This is a hybrid work position & as per current corporate policy, you will be required to be IN THE OFFICE @ 241 Ralph McGill Blvd, Atlanta, GA a Minimum of four (4) days per week (Currently Monday's, Tuesday's, Wednesday's & Thursday's) and/or as additionally required.

Approximately 25% travel will be required.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Office Survey Specialist supports Land Engineering by ensuring surveying and mapping deliverables are accurate, complete, compliant with applicable standards, and delivered on schedule. This role supports project quality, field-to-office coordination, contractor deliverable review, and the production of plan sheets, parcel maps, boundary surveys, topographic maps, property exhibits, processed survey data, and PLS-CADD models.

The position requires practical knowledge of land-surveying principles, coordinate systems, property documentation, mapping standards, quality-control procedures, and clear communication with field personnel, office production teams, contractors, and internal clients.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent ( Required ).
- Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field ( Preferred ).

Experience Requirements:

- Minimum of two years of professional land surveying experience in the field, office, or a combination of both ( Required ).
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or comparable survey mapping software ( Required ).
- Experience processing, interpreting, or reviewing survey data for mapping or project-delivery purposes ( Required ).
- Experience applying mapping standards, quality-control procedures, and review checklists ( Required ).
- Experience with PLS-CADD ( Preferred ).
- Experience with GPS or other positioning technologies used in land surveying ( Preferred ).
- Experience with LiDAR, laser scanning, GIS, or related geospatial data ( Preferred ).
- Utility industry experience ( Preferred ).

- Interpretation of deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way documents, survey drawings, and other documents related to property rights.
- Quality assurance and quality control of surveying and mapping products.
- Application of mapping standards, procedures, and review checklists.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable mapping software.
- PLS-CADD and the use of PLS-CADD models in engineering or line-design workflows.
- GPS, CADD mapping, and related surveying technologies.
- Identification, documentation, and communication of mapping or data-quality concerns.
- Organization, prioritization, and management of multiple assignments.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Collaboration with field personnel, office production staff, contractors, and internal clients.
- Commitment to continuous technical development.

Duties:

- Perform quality-assurance and quality-control reviews of surveying and mapping products produced by or for Land Engineering.
- Review plan sheets, parcel maps, boundary products, topographic maps, property exhibits, processed survey data, and PLS-CADD models for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Apply established standards, procedures, and checklists when reviewing deliverables.
- Process and interpret survey field data for boundary, topographic, volumetric, hydrographic, and other surveying applications, as assigned.
- Perform CADD mapping and PLS-CADD tasks needed to support project delivery.
- Interpret relevant property and surveying documents, including deeds, plats, easements, rights-of-way documents, and survey drawings.
- Support Land Engineering field survey personnel and office mapping staff.
- Coordinate with field personnel, office mapping staff, contractors, and internal clients to resolve data, mapping, documentation, and deliverable issues.
- Review contractor mapping deliverables and clearly communicate required corrections, quality concerns, and schedule impacts to contractors and appropriate project stakeholders.
- Track assigned project status and communicate progress, risks, quality concerns, and schedule impacts in a timely manner.
- Organize and prioritize multiple projects while supporting required delivery schedules.
- Maintain or update Land Engineering procedures, standards, checklists, and process documentation, as assigned.
- Support accurate, efficient, and complete field-data acquisition and office-mapping processes.
- Provide technical guidance, training, or mentoring to team members, as assigned.
- Build and maintain productive working relationships with internal clients.
- Perform other surveying, mapping, quality-control, and project-support duties as assigned.

Licenses and Certifications:

- A valid driver’s license ( Required )
- LSIT certification or RLS certification in Georgia ( Preferred )
