Intro

As Director, Global Software Development – Straumann Digital Platform, you will lead the development and delivery of a strategic technology platform at the heart of Straumann’s digital dentistry ecosystem.

You will oversee a distributed software engineering organization and help shape how our teams build, deliver, and operate scalable cloud services, connected workflows, AI-enabled capabilities, integrations, and data-driven products.

Working closely with Product Management, Architecture, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Operations, and other business partners, you will combine technology leadership with delivery execution and people development. A key part of the role will be helping growing engineering teams establish clear structures, effective practices, and the capabilities they need to succeed at scale.Your Role

You will:

- Lead the end-to-end develo/pment and delivery of the Straumann Digital Platform, translating strategy into roadmaps, technical milestones, and measurable outcomes.
- Lead and develop distributed engineering teams, creating clear accountability, effective ways of working, and strong collaboration across locations and functions.
- Partner with architecture leaders to evolve a secure, modular, scalable, and maintainable platform architecture.
- Strengthen engineering practices across cloud development, DevOps, continuous integration and delivery, test automation, observability, API-based integration, and secure-by-design development.
- Balance near-term product priorities with long-term platform sustainability, including the active management of technical debt.
- Embed quality, cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory requirements into everyday engineering practices, including relevant medical-device software standards.
- Improve delivery predictability, platform reliability, engineering productivity, and operational maturity through meaningful metrics and feedback loops.
- Develop engineering managers, technical leaders, and emerging talent while helping build the capabilities required for future growth.
- Champion responsible adoption of automation, AI-assisted development, and modern engineering tools.
- Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, trade-offs, and investment needs clearly to senior stakeholders.

Your Profile:

Essential

- Significant experience leading distributed software engineering teams or organizations in a complex environment.
- Strong experience with software platforms, cloud-based architectures, enterprise software, or connected digital ecosystems.
- Experience working in a regulated or quality-critical environment such as medical devices, healthcare, automotive, aerospace, or financial services.
- Practical understanding of modern software engineering approaches, including DevOps, CI/CD, test automation, cybersecurity, cloud operations, and API-based integration.
- Experience improving software delivery, quality, collaboration, and engineering effectiveness.
- A track record of developing teams, leaders, engineering practices, and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to communicate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
- Strong business perspective, with the ability to connect technology investments to customer value, scalability, quality, compliance, and lifecycle considerations.

Nice to Have

- Experience with medical-device software standards such as IEC 62304 or quality systems aligned with ISO 13485.
- Experience scaling platform engineering capabilities, AI-enabled development practices, or global software operating models.
