Make a Difference to a Young Person's Future
Are you passionate about helping young people develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently? Do you have experience working with children or young people and want a rewarding role where every day makes a positive impact?
We are looking for caring, resilient, and motivated Independent Living Support Workers to join our Supported Accommodation service, providing 24/7 support to young people aged 16-18 as they prepare for adulthood.
As part of a dedicated team, you will help create a safe, stable, and supportive environment where young people can thrive, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
About The Role
You will:
- Build positive and effective relationships with young people and their families.
- Support young people with developing practical independent living skills.
- Provide guidance with day-to-day domestic and life management tasks.
- Contribute to care planning and support delivery.
- Maintain accurate records and attend reviews and planning meetings.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, accommodation providers, and other professionals.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
Essential
- Experience working with children or young people either professionally or through relevant life experiences.
- The ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Good literacy, numeracy skills and computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to use business systems effectively.
- Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Desirable
- Experience working with teenagers.
- Knowledge of child protection issues.
- Understanding of children's and family legislation.
- Good educational attainment, including GCSEs or equivalent.
What You Need To Know
This is a varied role that requires flexibility. You will be expected to:
- Work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Undertake sleep-in duties on a rota basis.
- Loan work.
- Support young people who may present with complex emotional, behavioural, and social needs.
