Construction Superintendent, Cell Manufacturing Tool Install

As a Tool Install Superintendent on Tesla's GFTX Tool Install team, you will play a pivotal role in the expansion and continuous improvement of 4680 Cell Manufacturing at Gigafactory Texas – one of Tesla's most technical advanced and strategically critical battery programs in the world. This next-generation cell manufacturing environment is built on a foundation of precision engineering, high-throughput automation, and relentless innovation, directly enabling Tesla's long-term vertical integration strategy and energy independence goals.

This role demands high technical knowledge and exceptional attention to construction and installation detail, specifically the activity sequence required to deliver fast, efficient, safe and high-quality manufacturing tool installations across complex, highly specialized cell production systems. With aggressive capacity expansion targets and continuous line improvement initiatives running in parallel to live production operations, extreme upfront planning and flawless execution within tight windows are non-negotiable. The ability to work seamlessly alongside active manufacturing while minimizing disruption to ongoing cell output is essential. First principles thinking is a must. This role requires 40% travel.

You will also support pre-construction planning and benchmark execution for future Cell Manufacturing factories.

- Takes ownership of assigned projects, drives field execution of work, and ensures the means and methods of construction meet Tesla Specifications
- Evaluates plans, builds project schedules, supports submittal reviews, writes RFIs and coordinate in-field shutdowns with project stakeholders
- Maintains effective communication with Tesla personnel, including QC, QA, CX, and Facilities
- Coordinates field execution with all contractors, establishes dimensional layout/control, verify installation material in the field matches the design documents and ensures contractor as-builts are accurately captured
- Maintains a safe/clean work site, identifies and correct safety hazards/violations and coordinate with appropriate stakeholders to quickly resolve field clashes
- Reviews project plans, P&ID’s, single-line diagrams, and determine the feasibility of construction as well as potential value engineering opportunities
- Manages multiple work fronts simultaneously while adhering to Tesla specifications, procedures, and policies

- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience
- Discipline or equivalent experience with running large commercial or O&G projects
- Strong proficiency with Dry/Wet Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Rigging and Building Automation/Controls/Life Safety Systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective reasoning and judgment skills
- Ability to read and interpret all contract documents, plans, specifications, and requirements
