Role Purpose

The role will support the implementation of the Non-Formal Education (NFE) strategy by driving business development, market positioning, partnership development and income generation.

You will lead and support proposal management, strengthen business development capabilities, maintain strategic networks and ensure effective pipeline management. Working collaboratively across Education, Cultural Engagement and Business Support Operations (BSO), you will help identify new opportunities and deliver against integrated income plan targets.

Role Accountabilities

Leadership and Management

- Advise and support the global Education team on new business opportunities, market analysis and business development.
- Work with the BSO Capacity Building Lead to strengthen business development skills through training, digital resources and guidance materials.
- Promote compliance with business development standards and support continuous improvement, lessons learned and knowledge management.

Strategy and Planning

- Analyse business performance, including income, impact, risks, trends, opportunities and resources, to support integrated income plan targets.
- Conduct market research and sector analysis to inform positioning and develop responses to market needs.

Relationship and Stakeholder Management

- Identify new client leads and develop diverse networks with clients, partners and external consultants.
- Build and maintain relationships to support existing programmes, new opportunities and business growth.
- Lead and advise on complex partnership negotiations.
- Collaborate with global NFE colleagues, Cultural Engagement teams, BSO, Country Directors, Key Account Leads, Marketing and Communications, country teams and corporate functions to support a One British Council approach.

Business Development and Proposal Management

- Lead proposal management for NFE opportunities, including State Aid, Non-State Aid, Grant, Partnership, Fundraising and full cost recovery contracts.
- Manage and develop the global and country pipeline in collaboration with BSO.
- Support colleagues with the tripartite approvals process, quality assurance and compliance with CE business development standards.
- Develop market positioning activity, including multi-sector narratives, campaigns and track record development.
- Support teams in preparing commercial project models (CPM) and provide guidance on contract negotiations.

Experience

Essential

- Proven experience and success in business development and partnerships within the Non-Formal Education sector, including leading successful proposals for a range of clients and donors.
- Experience working collaboratively with diverse teams across Cultural Engagement to develop and deliver innovative solutions.

Desirable

- Experience developing partnerships.
- Understanding of the Non-Formal Education sector, its context and key stakeholders.
- Experience in contract management.

Education

- Degree-level qualification or equivalent senior-level experience in Education, Arts or English and School Education sectors.

Professional Qualification and Certification

- Programme Management qualification.

Language

- Excellent written and spoken English.

Location: UK (Open to employees in all UK offices including employees already on homeworking contracts), Pakistan, Serbia

Contract Type: FTC (Renewable after 3 years)

Pay Band: PB 8

- Starting Annual Gross Salary (UK) : £40,179
- Starting Annual Gross Salary (Pakistan): PKR 910,3812
- Starting Annual Gross Salary (Serbia): EUR 3,450 (Monthly)
