About the Role
You'll be at the heart of developing and maintaining our sophisticated in-house insurance platforms, built primarily with Java and Spring Boot, while increasingly leveraging AI to enhance both our products and the way we engineer software.
You will have the opportunity to join one of our platform teams and contribute to functionality that generates real business impact. This includes building AI-enabled solutions, integrating AI capabilities into existing platforms, and using AI-driven workflows throughout the software development lifecycle to improve engineering productivity and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop business features and AI-enabled solutions that will be used by large user communities and generate measurable business value
- Design and integrate AI capabilities into enterprise applications, combining modern AI platforms with established Java-based systems
- Apply AI-driven engineering workflows across the SDLC, using AI-assisted development, testing, code review, documentation, and other engineering practices to improve productivity and quality
- Review and approve pull requests and enforce consistency, maintainability, security, and quality standards across the codebase
- Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams including requirements engineers, QA specialists, product owners, and other application engineers
- Create architecture diagrams and technical designs that guide implementation and contribute to technology and architecture decisions
- Integrate services and shared platforms including messaging systems, BPMN workflows, logging frameworks, telemetry solutions, and AI platforms
- Stay current with emerging technologies and Generative AI developments, actively experimenting with new approaches and translating relevant innovations into practical engineering solutions

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
- Expert knowledge of Java and Spring Boot, with proven experience across the entire software delivery lifecycle
- Hands-on experience building or integrating AI-enabled solutions into applications and enterprise systems
- Practical experience using AI-driven development workflows and tools across the SDLC
- Experience with Microsoft Foundry or Palantir Foundry for developing, integrating, or operating AI solutions
- Previous public cloud experience, particularly with Microsoft Azure
- Comfort and proficiency working with large and established codebases
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with insurance domain concepts and business processes
- Experience mentoring junior developers and contributing to team growth
For Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between 3 800 EUR and 6 300 EUR] per month (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
· the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
· the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.
In addition to your base salary, Swiss Re offers an attractive performance-based variable compensation component, designed to recognise your achievements. Further you will enjoy a variety of global and location specific benefits.
Eligibility may vary depending on the terms of Swiss Re policies and your employment contract.
