About this role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Editor to support the development, review, and maintenance of Safety Basis documentation for nuclear and high-hazard facilities .

The ideal candidate will have experience editing complex technical or regulatory documentation and working closely with engineers, nuclear safety analysts, and subject matter experts. This position plays an important role in ensuring Safety Basis documents are clear, consistent, technically accurate in presentation, compliant with applicable requirements, and prepared for internal and external review.

Key Responsibilities

- Edit, format, review, and quality-check Safety Basis and supporting technical documentation, including:

Documented Safety Analyses (DSAs)

- Technical Safety Requirements (TSRs)

- Hazard Analyses and supporting calculations

- Safety Evaluation Reports

- Safety Basis change packages

- Ensure documentation complies with applicable DOE requirements, standards, and site-specific procedures, including DOE O 420.1 and 10 CFR 830 .

- Improve the clarity, organization, consistency, grammar, and readability of highly technical material without changing its technical intent.

- Apply and enforce established document standards, templates, style guides, and configuration management requirements.

- Collaborate with engineers, nuclear safety analysts, authors, and subject matter experts to resolve comments and improve document quality.

- Prepare documentation for formal review, approval, and submittal.

- Support internal reviews, audits, and readiness activities.

- Track document revisions and comment resolution throughout the review process.

- Maintain document version control and configuration management requirements.

- Manage multiple technical documents and deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience editing complex technical or regulatory documentation

- Strong command of grammar, technical writing style, and document structure

- Experience working with subject matter experts in highly regulated environments

- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and document control tools

- Ability to manage multiple documents and deadlines simultaneously

- Exceptional attention to detail

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex technical subject matter

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience editing DOE Safety Basis documentation, including DSA, TSR, and USQ related documentation

- Familiarity with configuration management and formal document review processes

- Active DOE clearance or ability to obtain one

Education and Experience

Bachelors or Masters degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communication, Physical Science, Social Science, or related field

Typically requires 6 to 8 years of relevant experience
