IMEG is hiring a Senior Technology Security Designer in Indianapolis, IN to lead the planning, design, coordination, and documentation of electronic security and technology systems for complex building projects. This role focuses on integrated, reliable, and code-compliant security solutions that connect effectively with the broader building infrastructure.

In this role, you will lead security technology design, collaborate with architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and technology disciplines, and help guide projects from programming through construction administration and closeout. You will also support project delivery, client communication, technical quality, mentoring, and multidisciplinary coordination across education, institutional, healthcare, federal, aviation, and other complex facility work.

What You'll Do

· Lead the design and development of electronic security systems for new construction, renovation, and modernization projects, including access control, video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, intercom and entry systems, visitor management, security communications, duress/panic alarm systems, physical security technology, and security operations and monitoring systems.

· Develop basis-of-design documents, system narratives, specifications, equipment schedules, riser diagrams, floor plans, details, and construction documents.

· Perform site assessments and existing-condition evaluations to identify security requirements and system deficiencies.

· Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, IT/network teams, low-voltage consultants, and other engineering disciplines to coordinate technology infrastructure.

· Establish system requirements based on client operational needs, applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.

· Evaluate security technologies, manufacturers, and system architectures and provide technically sound recommendations.

· Participate in client meetings, project programming, design reviews, project interviews, and presentations.

· Lead or support project teams through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration.

· Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and change requests for compliance with design intent.

· Perform field observations and assist with system testing, commissioning, and project closeout.

· Mentor junior designers and engineers and provide technical guidance on security system design.

· Coordinate project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and technical quality with project managers.

· Maintain awareness of emerging security technologies, cybersecurity considerations, standards, and industry trends.

What You'll Bring

Required Education

· Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer or related Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, related STEM field Engineering, or equivalent required. Security Technology, Architecture or related preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered.

· Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred

Experience

· 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

· 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry

Required Skills/Abilities

· Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications

· Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles relating to electrical voltage and current, digital and analog signals, basic IT networking topologies and protocols, as it relates to electrical low-voltage systems design for buildings

· Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills

· Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise

· Ability to sell work and develop client relationships

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

· Attention to detail and problem-solving skills

· Eagerness to adapt to new challenges

· Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

· Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

· Must have the ability to travel up to 30%, including local, domestic, and international travel as needed for business purposes, which may include overnight stays and/or air travel

Preferred Qualifications

· Professional certification such as PSP, CPP, CTS, CTS-D, or equivalent.

· Demonstrated electronic security design experience, including access control, video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, and related security technologies.

· Experience developing construction documents and technical specifications for security systems.

· Experience with enterprise access control and video management platforms and IP-based security systems.

· Understanding of network infrastructure and cybersecurity principles as they relate to electronic security systems.

· Experience designing security systems for large or complex facilities, including federal, healthcare, higher education, aviation, data center, or other specialized environments.

· Knowledge of physical security assessments and vulnerability/risk assessments.

· Familiarity with applicable building codes and standards, including NIST, ASIS, NFPA, BICSI, SIA, and other relevant security guidelines.

· Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM coordination, or similar design and documentation tools.

· Professional engineering registration or other relevant professional registration is a plus.

· Core competencies in security system design and engineering, technical problem solving, construction documentation, multidiscipline coordination, client relationship management, project leadership, technical writing and specifications, quality assurance/quality control, mentoring and team development, and emerging security technologies.
