Join System Operation Technical Delivery Lead - Band 6

Position Description

The DSO/TSO JSOP Technical lead is responsible for:

- Taking a leading role in the design of the future TSO/DSO Operating Model.

- Working with the TSO/DSO lead in Flexibility Market Design team in DMSO Design to clearly identify and scope out the technical tasks in the JSOP

- Identifying the key stakeholders for each of the tasks (both within DMSO and in other parts of the business)

- Identifying the key parties responsible for delivering each of the tasks (both within DMSO and in other parts of the business)

- The DSO/TSO lead will also have responsibility for delivery of some incentivised tasks on the JSOP.

- Planning and structuring the delivery of each task with the key milestones identified

- Identifying the party in TSO who is also responsible for each task and ensuring regular engagement and task progression.

- Keeping the DSO/TSO workplan tasks as a key focus at PSR team meetings

- Engaging with other parts of ESB Networks in relation to the task delivery to ensure

Adherence to key principles

- Any concerns raised by other parts of the business are brought back to the JSOP, addressed and closed out with the business

- Smooth transition to business as usual

- Ensuring the DSO/TSO Operating model is adhered to in delivery of each of the tasks

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

- Good knowledge of power system development as it relates to active and reactive power management.

- Good knowledge of the technical challenges and opportunities emerging due to high penetration of Distributed Energy Resources connecting to the distribution system.

- Strong capability to analyse and interpret complex technical and market documentation, translating insights into practical actions and recommendations.

- Excellent interpersonal skills as the successful applicant with be required to collaborate with multiple teams across ESB Group, EirGrid and CRU.

- Excellent presentation, and communication skills.;

- Self-motivated with ability to clearly plan and communicate the requirements to progress specific projects or new initiatives, to project manage, prioritize own work and the work of others;

- Experience of working on own initiative, taking ownership of work / projects

- A record of accomplishment in delivering of work/and or projects

Desirable

- A knowledge of the various markets within the electricity industry

- A knowledge of TSO processes in particular around operations or planning

- Good negotiation skills

- A knowledge of industry best practice as it relates to TSO and DSO coordination.

Qualifications

Essential

- A primary degree in a science based topic or equivalent work experience.

Location

Leopardstown Road. Attendance at base will be required 1-2 days every week and occasionally more as required for the job.

Smart Working at ESB is designed to make ‘in-person’ time together as purposeful as possible while also enabling the effective use of digital tools and hybrid arrangements to preserve our commitment to flexibility. The successful candidate may work flexibly within the jurisdiction where they have been employed, with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration at least two days per week . All Smart Working arrangements are subject to regular review based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the business.

Salary

€71,000 to €84,000 per annum
