POSITION SUMMARY

The Site Superintendent provides daily onsite leadership, oversight, and supervision of construction activities, subcontractors, craft personnel, and site safety. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing field operations, subcontractors, and consultants and serves as a company representative when interfacing with clients and other project stakeholders. The Site Superintendent ensures construction activities are performed in accordance with contract documents, project plans and specifications, safety and quality requirements, established schedules, and budget expectations. The position is responsible for maintaining project progress and supporting successful completion within the required period of performance.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Preconstruction and Project Planning

- Provide pre-bid project analysis; identify project planning, constructability, and site utilization concerns; recommend solutions; and assist with identifying subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and other project resources.

- Participate in project initiation and planning, including construction sequencing, identification of potential project issues, schedule development, subcontractor scopes of work, and material procurement planning.

- Review contract documents, plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements to understand construction requirements and identify potential conflicts, discrepancies, or constructability concerns.

- Coordinate with the Project Manager and project team to establish site logistics, mobilization requirements, sequencing, and short-term construction priorities.

Field Operations and Project Execution

- Provide daily onsite supervision and coordination of construction activities, subcontractors, consultants, craft personnel, materials, equipment, and site utilization.

- Direct and coordinate field activities to maintain project schedule, quality, safety, and contract requirements.

- Develop and maintain short-term and look-ahead schedules; monitor construction progress and coordinate subcontractors, labor, materials, equipment, and inspections to support scheduled activities.

- Conduct required project and coordination meetings and communicate project priorities, schedule requirements, and field conditions to appropriate team members.

- Monitor material deliveries, storage, and utilization to support project sequencing and minimize delays.

- Verify work is being performed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, submittals, contract requirements, and applicable codes and standards.

- Identify field conflicts, differing site conditions, scope concerns, delays, and other potential impacts; promptly communicate issues to the Project Manager and assist in developing appropriate resolutions.

- Coordinate required inspections and work with Quality Control personnel to address deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Project Safety

- Implement and enforce Aleut safety standards, project-specific safety plans, and applicable regulatory and contractual safety requirements.

- Monitor site activities for compliance with established safety requirements and ensure required safety reports and documentation are completed accurately and timely.

- Stop work immediately when unsafe conditions or activities are identified and ensure incidents, injuries, near misses, and other required safety events are promptly reported and addressed.

- Promote an active safety culture by reinforcing safe work practices and holding subcontractors and project personnel accountable for compliance with project safety requirements.

Project Documentation and Reporting

- Maintain accurate and timely daily field reports documenting labor, equipment, materials, work performed, schedule progress, site conditions, delays, and photo documentation.

- Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager regarding project status, progress, upcoming activities, risks, issues, and required decisions.

- Ensure required project reports, inspections, contract deliverables, and field documentation are completed and submitted in accordance with project requirements.

- Review subcontractor schedules of values and supporting information for pay applications and provide field verification or recommendations to the Project Manager.

- Maintain documentation of significant field conditions, project impacts, subcontractor performance, and events that may affect schedule, cost, quality, or contract performance.

Project Completion and Closeout

- Coordinate project completion and closeout activities to ensure contractual requirements for inspections, testing, acceptance, commissioning, record documents, training, and other required deliverables are completed.

- Manage punch-list activities and coordinate subcontractors and project personnel to ensure deficiencies and incomplete work are corrected within established timeframes.

- Support final inspections, client acceptance, demobilization, and turnover of completed work in accordance with contract requirements.

Leadership, Communication, and Compliance

- Ensures program compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.

- Provides proper flow of communication from upper management to team members and vice versa.

- Maintains regular communication with the Project Manager regarding project status, progress, upcoming activities, risks, issues, and required decisions.

- Provides day-to-day direction and leadership to assigned field personnel and subcontractors and reinforces accountability for safety, quality, schedule, and performance expectations.

- Takes proactive steps and actions to identify, communicate, and minimize project risks.

- Performs duties, responsibilities, and assigned tasks with minimal direction or oversight.

- Works collaboratively with other departments and business units as required to support project and company objectives.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Health and Safety, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.

- Required Certifications: OSHA 30 (other requirements by contract or region)

- Preferred Certifications: Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Construction Quality Manager (CQM), EM-385-1 Training,

EXPERIENCE

- Minimum of five to seven (5 - 7) years of experience in progressive construction project management

- General knowledge of federal contracting processes, practices, requirements, and guidelines for construction projects.

- Strong familiarity and implementation of OSHA 1910/1926

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing subcontractors.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with proposal development and estimating.

SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Demonstrated knowledge of construction means and methods.

- In-depth knowledge and ability to read prints, plans, schedules, and inspections.

- Strong verbal and writing skills required for communication with client, management and team members.

- Strong computer skills using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc), Procore and RMS.

- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret data

- Ability to interpret and understand instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Must be able to manage and supervise others.

- Prioritize and re-prioritize tasks

- Must be able to document issues and resulting resolutions.

- Navigate time constraints and complete deliverables on time.

- Be effective in a high-stress environment.

- Organize/perform/assign work with minimum supervision.

- Ability to solve practical problems; ability to interpret and understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form,

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to perform repetitive movements of the fingers, hands, wrists, and arms, including use of computers and other office or field equipment.

- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods.

- Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and climb stairs or ladders as necessary to inspect work and oversee project activities.

- Must be able to safely navigate active construction sites, including uneven or rough terrain, unfinished surfaces, stairs, and other project work areas.

- Must be able to access and move throughout construction and project areas to observe work, conduct inspections, and oversee site operations.

- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, protective footwear, hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, fall-protection equipment, full- or half-mask respirator, and/or face mask, as required by the work environment.

- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The working conditions for this position may include the following:

- This is an Onsite position that requires work to be performed onsite at an Aleut location.

- Working both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and potentially austere environments.

- May be exposed to construction environments involving equipment, electrical or mechanical hazards, elevated work areas, confined spaces, dust, hazardous materials, and odors

- Potential exposure to continuous loud noise produced by machinery and/or equipment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

- Must possess a valid and unrestricted drivers license.

- Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain required base or project site access.

- Must be able to work a schedule that aligns with project requirements and operational needs, including extended hours, early mornings, evenings, weekends, or other non-standard hours as necessary required by the project needs.

- Must be able to travel as required to support projects and company operations, generally up to 10%.
