This position plays an important role in preparing meals for residents, guests, special events, and catering functions while maintaining the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and safety.

What You'll Do

As a Line Cook, you'll help prepare and serve meals throughout Arbor Acres' dining operations by:

- Preparing entrees, vegetables, starches, soups, breakfast items, desserts, and other menu offerings

- Executing recipes with consistency, quality, and attention to presentation

- Maintaining clean, organized, and fully stocked workstations

- Assisting with catering and special events

- Following food safety, sanitation, labeling, and storage standards

- Working collaboratively with fellow Culinary Artists to ensure smooth meal service

- Supporting multiple dining venues and kitchen stations as needed

- Participating in inventory control and minimizing food waste

- Maintaining compliance with state, federal, and local food service regulations

- Delivering exceptional service to residents, guests, and team members

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of two years of cooking experience in a commercial kitchen environment

- Experience with batch cooking and high-volume meal preparation

- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and cross-contamination prevention

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

- Strong communication and teamwork skills

- Dependable attendance and punctuality

- Ability to obtain ServSafe certification within six months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, restaurant, or institutional dining environments

- Short-order or grill cooking experience

- Experience plating and executing meals with consistency and quality

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Bilingual is a plus, but not required

Schedule

This is a full-time position.

Typical shifts include:

- 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM

- 11:00 AM – 8:00PM

Additional hours may be required for special events and catering functions.

- Every other weekend rotation required

- Holidays required as scheduled

Arbor Acres operates 365 days a year , and team members are expected to be dependable and committed to supporting resident dining services year-round.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, and lifting

- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push carts exceeding 100 pounds

- Ability to work in hot kitchen environments and refrigerated areas

- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and commercial kitchen equipment
