Lead Systems Engineer - Flight Management Computing

# Job Description Summary
GE Aerospace is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support our Flight Management Computing programs. In this role, you will lead systems engineering activities across a portfolio of advanced avionics platforms, driving alignment between customer needs, technical requirements, product design, integration, and verification.

This is a highly collaborative, cross-functional role for an engineer who thrives in complex development environments and can balance platform commonality with program-specific needs across both military and civil applications. You will work closely with software, hardware, and program teams to ensure robust system definition, disciplined execution, and successful product integration from concept through production and operation.

The ideal candidate brings strong systems thinking, technical leadership, and sound engineering judgment, with the ability to influence decisions, manage tradeoffs, and drive execution across multidisciplinary teams.

The location for this position is Grand Rapids, MI on at least a hybrid basis (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office) : An extensive corporate relocation package is also available for eligible candidates.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

- Lead systems engineering efforts for  Flight Management Computing  programs across military and civil platforms.
- Manage  cross-platform commonality  and program-specific system requirements to enable scalable, high-quality product solutions.
- Own and drive  requirements development, allocation, traceability, verification, and validation  activities.
- Partner closely with  software and hardware teams  to ensure system requirements are fully understood, implemented, and verified.
- Lead  system integration  activities across components, subsystems, and products to maximize performance, operability, and product quality.
- Define and manage  system and product requirements , specifications, and requirements flow-down to internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners.
- Drive  system-level verification and validation , including support for integration and test strategy development.
- Manage key  interfaces  between components, teams, and execution organizations to ensure seamless product development and integration.
- Lead  risk, trade study, and CTQ  decision-making to optimize system design and program execution.
- Support  configuration management and configuration control  activities across the product lifecycle.
- Apply technical expertise and data-driven analysis to solve moderately complex engineering challenges and recommend practical solutions.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced engineers, while helping build alignment and consensus across teams.
- Contribute to functional best practices, continuous improvement, and technical strategy within the systems engineering discipline.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of  6 years of experience  in systems engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- This position requires U.S. citizenship status.

- Experience with  technical trade studies, risk management, and configuration control .
- Proven ability to document plans, manage priorities, and execute projects successfully.

The base pay range for this position is $130,000.00 - $173,000.00 USD Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on 10/31/26.​
