About this role

Responsible for performing all duties associated with the operations of the Security Control Room. Provides institution-wide flawless customer service, and operator/receptionist services using the master operator console, paging system, and communication system. Communicates efficiently and provides team support to co-workers to meet the departmental demands. Strives to accomplish accuracy when administrating emergency responses. Monitors multiples cameras to identify threats to the employees, patients and visitors. Responds to request for service or assistance and dispatches appropriate personnel.

Job Responsibilities:

- Provide institution-wide flawless customer service by responding to inquiries and resolving issues or complaints (e.g., issuance of personnel badges and hangtags).
- Act as a communication specialist during emergency situations (e.g., Fire, Severe Weather, 911 Calls).
- Coordinate with Security Management in the preliminary and follow-up investigation of complaints.
- Maintain daily reports & records and provide written incident reports on all activities during their given shift (e.g., offenses, disruptions).
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the department and institution.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Consistently meet job expectations, adhere to policies, and deliver quality work while applying. St. Jude values and principles. Managers evaluate employee performance throughout the year—specifically through the spring and fall Check‑In milestones and the Annual Performance Review. All employees are encouraged to actively participate in these performance management processes.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

- High School diploma/GED required.

Minimum Experience:

- High school diploma/GED with 2+ years of customer service or 1 year security related experience (e.g., security program, police organization, military branch, conflict counselling).
- Experience in data entry and working in emergency situations and fast pace stressful environment.
- Some experience with computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel etc.), with some experience maintaining records, preferred.
- Proven performance in earlier role.

- Plans well in advance with awareness of critical milestones/objectives and own scope of delivery. Anticipates potential resource requirements or roadblocks, and identifies alternatives. Thinks through competing priorities and sets realistic targets, builds in reviews, and monitors progress to ensure quality and timeliness.
- Skills in identifying potential threats, investigate incidents, (e.g., theft, damage), and determine the cause of the problem. Ability to stay calm under stress, respond quickly and effectively, when an emergency or crisis arises, managing safety of all concerned parties.
- Is able to apply knowledge/skills within own area to deliver tasks with limited guidance
- Able to investigate and resolve security incidents, under minimal supervision. Maintains up to date and accurate records of incidents and problems/issues as needed.
- Knowledge of security rules & institutional policies and applicable laws. Ability to manage day to day security activities/queries and solve problems in a structured manner with an understanding of all hazards and threats to safety.
- Showcases good understanding of security policies, procedures and applicable laws (e.g., Crime- felony, misdemeanor, federal and state laws). Performs a wide variety of duties in support of security requirements, with minimal supervision. Undergoes and clears necessary background checks and driving skills.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

- Successfully complete a physical/health screening examination by Occupational Health, which includes a drug screening; successfully meet and maintain Campus Safety and Security physical requirements.

- Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work and officers must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, walk, and run.

- Jude Children’s policies and procedures.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must maintain the ability to move about the workspace to access work surface and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment that are at, below or above the work surface.

Compensation
In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $20.50 - $34.50 per hour for the role of Sr Security Specialist.
