Architect II, Data

The Data Architect II is responsible for designing and implementing database architecture, design, analysis, migration, and security.

Preferred locations for this role are Houston, Texas or Knoxville, Tennessee.

What You Will Do:

- Develop strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and implementation of a database.
- Design and build relational databases, conceptual and logical data models, and flowcharts.
- Develop Databases, Data Warehouses, and Multidimensional Databases.
- Develop a strategy for Data Archiving, MDM, Reporting, and analytical needs.
- Develop database solutions to store and retrieve information.
- Act as a custodian of data and provide insights, assistance, and expertise in making business decisions based on data.
- Migrate data from legacy systems to new solutions.
- Define and enforce organizational-level data strategy.
- Provide operational support for Management Information System (MIS)
- Develops database solutions by designing the proposed system, defining the database’s physical structure and functional capabilities, and security, backup, and recovery specifications.
- Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
- Mentors junior team members and peers, providing expertise and guidance of tools and systems.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent, from an accredited university, in a data processing discipline or equivalent industry experience.
- Typically requires 12 years of experience in database design and analysis and 6 years of experience in Oracle 11g or above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Experience in Enterprise Database development with at least 5 years of database design experience.
- Possesses a deep understanding of tools used in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience in Oracle 11g, MS SQL Server.
- Hands-on experience with ETL technologies. IBM info sphere DataStage knowledge is a plus.
- Well-versed in designing and implementing Data Marts, Multi Data Models, Star, and Snowflake Schemas.
- Knowledge and experience in MSBI technologies, and cloud exposure to Azure is a plus.
- Proficient in programming languages such as PL/SQL code.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
- Proven capability to train employees in technically complex areas.
- Proactive, energetic self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
- Prior experience with Oracle DBA and knowledge of AGILE development principles is preferred.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Reporting Relationships:

This position reports to a Manager, Director, or Executive level position.
