As the Program Engineering Director for CFM56, you will provide overall direction to the CFM56 program’s Service Engineering team, tasked with delivering high quality, optimized engine builds to support the wide and evolving array of CFM56 customer requirements.

The successful incumbent will maximize repair versus replace strategies for the program, drive repair solution development, support cost reduction initiatives, and provide leadership for module exchange strategies using both serviceable modules and stub life repair assets.

The Director works with site production leaders to efficiently improve the processes, procedures, methods and materials used in the repair and overhaul processes while ensuring product quality is maintained and striving for quality improvements. As a senior engineering leader in the company, you will support functional development of the engineering team through development of engineering approaches, policies and procedures consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards.

What you’ll do:

Specific Accountabilities

- Serves as the senior technical leader responsible for driving engineering excellence and life optimization strategy for the CFM56-5B and -7B program. As a technical subject matter expert (SME), this role ensures customer requirements are effectively translated into executable work scopes, repair strategies, and engineering solutions that optimize cost, turnaround time, compliance, and reliability.
- Lead the development, approval, and implementation of work scopes that balance customer requirements, regulatory compliance, OEM guidance, and cost efficiency.
- Support asset trading teams with valuation of candidate acquisition engines and modules, keeping abreast of SB, AD and BoM trends and updates.
- Manage the OEM to ensure their performance and response times meet our TAT objectives and their own SLA commitments. Ensure we are getting value from our OEM technical support fee structures.
- Champion a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement, proactively identifying opportunities for program technical optimization and repair innovation.
- Develop and manage holistic CFM56 fleet module replacement strategy to optimize cost excellence and TAT within the operations; successful hand-off and support of strategy provided to operations team.
- Supports the program’s repair strategy, driving additional repair development and supporting vendor management for sub-con repairs. Partners with supply chain to manage and escalate issues as appropriate. Drives engineering initiatives to reduce cost of ownership, maximize part re-use, and enhance overall repair efficiency and profitability.
- Provide functional leadership to the CFM56 Service Engineering team. Mentor, coach, and develop Engineering team with strong technical capability.
- Manage significant customer issue resolution where technical issues have driven customer AOG.
- Provide clear, professional written and verbal technical advice to customers, including technical justifications, recommendations, and repair options.
- Close collaboration with program management and business development teams to support proposals, bids, and long-term customer partnerships.
- Coordinates planning, organization, budgeting, program timing and specifications of all engineering projects and assures timely and high-quality delivery.
- Keeps abreast of engineering trends and developments for application in the business unit.
- Actively participates in the CFM56 engine program leadership team, assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related technical discipline required.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline preferred.

Experience:

- 10+ years of aviation propulsion, engine MRO, engineering, asset management, or related aerospace experience, with significant experience in engine maintenance and workscoping.
