PrideStaff is recruiting a Project Engineer for a manufacturing client in Akron. This role manages injection-molding and tooling projects from initial design review through production readiness, bringing together customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who combines strong plastics and tooling knowledge with practical project-management skills. You will own project schedules, budgets, and technical coordination while helping resolve manufacturing challenges before they affect production.

Key Responsibilities Lead technical projects: Manage new-product and tooling projects from planning through production readiness, coordinating responsibilities, milestones, and deliverables. Evaluate product designs: Review customer drawings and models for manufacturability, tooling concerns, and opportunities to improve quality or reduce cost. Manage costs and quotations: Prepare estimates for tooling and support equipment, contribute to customer quotations, and monitor project financial performance. Coordinate customers and suppliers: Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned projects and work with suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery expectations. Control schedules and scope: Maintain project timelines, lead progress meetings, and document changes affecting cost, timing, or project requirements. Resolve technical challenges: Partner with engineering, production, quality, and other departments to address problems, balance priorities, and escalate risks when necessary. Support continuous improvement: Develop lasting solutions while maintaining safe work practices, accurate project records, and compliance with quality requirements.
Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, plastics, polymer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Strong understanding of injection-molding processes and injection-mold tooling design and construction. Working knowledge of engineering and commodity resins, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). Intermediate 3D CAD skills, including the ability to translate, review, and modify customer design files. Demonstrated project-management and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions independently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, plus the ability to use software for project tracking and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
Six or more years of relevant experience in injection molding, tooling, and engineering is preferred. Additional strengths include professional-level SolidWorks experience, mold making, scientific molding, mold-filling analysis, or product design.

Project-management certification, experience with formal project-management methods and software, or a Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is also preferred.
