Job Summary:
Seeking experienced Mining Sales Director to lead business development and sales activities within North America with a priority focus on Canadian Mining Industry. The role focuses on managing strategic accounts, identifying new opportunities, and driving sustainable sales growth through customized and bundled service solutions for mining operations and large production heavy equipment users throughout North America:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to strengthen the company’s presence in the mining and mineral processing sectors across North America.
- Identify and approach potential clients including mining contractors, processing plants, and junior producers.
- Manage and expand relationships with key customers, ensuring long-term partnership and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal technical and engineering teams to deliver solutions that enhance equipment performance and operational efficiency.
- Conduct market analysis to identify emerging opportunities and industry trends.
- Prepare direct sales proposals, quotations, and participate in RFP, Contract or any required bidding processes.
- Negotiate contracts, oversee project implementation, and ensure customer expectations are met while coordinating closely with our key Distribution Network partners.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, performance reports, and strategic market insights to various management channels.
Main Tasks/ Responsibilities / Authorities:
- Maintain working knowledge of assigned segments within the assigned industries concerning trends and opportunities
- Establish and maintain a close working relationship with Mining Companies that will result in the additional sales volumes sold through the Volvo dealer organization
- Assist in National Trade Shows, Local Trade Shows, training seminars, customer VIP visits and product demonstrations when appropriate and applicable
- Facilitate effective communications between contracted Strategic Accounts, Volvo Dealers, Sales Field Organization and Volvo manufacturing personnel when applicable
- Report monthly sales (units and revenue) and other key metric performance as required: FID, TOT w/ Parent Company and Subsidiary details, Smart Commercial Account Sales, Extended Warranty Sales
- Complete any required monthly SPC documentation
- Attend Canada Regional Field Team Meetings and attend Quarterly Strategic Accounts Team Meetings
- Provide Reports to Management including Monthly Need to Knows, Quarterly Segment Briefs, project updates, upcoming events, green, yellow and red items as well as monthly forecast by account, by model and any potential planning adjustments to forecast
- Provide detailed annual business plan and forecast by account, by model, by project including any projected management order requests and annual budget T&E plan to cover all strategic accounts sales activities
Key Skills:
- Proficient skills required in following areas: problem solving and analysis, interpersonal, verbal and written communications, organization and leadership
- Must be proficient in use of personal computer, including skills in the following software programs: Excel, Word, Power Point and CRM tools
- Working knowledge of mining industry and site operations required
- MSHA certification must be valid and current including MSHA Part 46 required (hazard recognition, emergency procedures, first aid).
- Additionally, MSHA Part 48 (specialized training for underground/complex surface mining operations) is a plus
- Advanced product configuration and application knowledge required
Required knowledge & experience:
Education/Professional Qualifications required for the position:
- Commercial sales experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related technical field equivalent
- Minimum 7 years of experience in industrial or mining equipment sales, preferably from machinery manufacturing or engineering solutions companies
- Proven success in developing B2B sales with mining, quarry and aggregate and heavy industry clients
- Strong technical understanding of mineral processing, industrial heavy machinery, and maintenance solutions for mining operations
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills in English (bilingual French a plus)
- Highly motivated, target-oriented, and capable of working independently
- Willing to travel frequently to mining sites, dealer distribution branches, client business locations and industry association conferences/meetings throughout North America
Additional Important Requirements:
- Work very well with others in Team environment
- Able to perform duties effectively in a demanding environment whether working autonomously or under direction
- Up to 50% of time dedicated to travel
- Candidate must be based in Canada – but eligible to travel to U.S. when required
