Job Description:

Maintenance Technician 8 (Expert)

Reports To: Department Supervisor

Band: Associate Band P08

Location: Lexington, NC FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Operation: C Box Supervisory: None

Position Summary: Under general supervision, performs advanced and expert level diagnoses, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning in compliance with company policies. This includes but is not limited to building, grounds, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC. This includes all expectations of Technicians grade 6 & 7, with added expectations on education / certification and electrical knowledge.

Essential Functions:

· In-person attendance.

· Follow and comply with all safety standards including LOTO.

· Performs advanced reactive and planned maintenance as directed.

· Provide safe and timely mechanical and electrical support.

· Set up and operate equipment being used to fabricate and repair parts (e.g., welding lathe, drill press, grinder, mill, CNC & other metalworking tools to make & repair parts.

· Perform analysis, troubleshoot, replace and install electrical AC controls.

· Troubleshoot and correction of equipment that utilize Programmable Logic Controllers per electrical print readout and be able to monitor I/O status of the PLC.

· Create and close work orders, along with remaining current on work-related communications.

· Advanced Remote I/O troubleshooting.

· Proficient in CMMS reporting and part search.

· Work from factory drawings, blueprints, worksheets, and other related documents.

· Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of manufacturing equipment.

· Complete and retain MasterBrand Cabinets powered industrial equipment certification to include industrial forklift and aerial platform (required).

· Maintains the grounds and building exterior by performing any one of the following technical disciplines: routine electrical, mechanical, and carpentry.

· May set up and test equipment. Examples are drill press, grinder, band saw and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

· Inspects machine components to assure safety requirements are met.

· Cross-train with other maintenance technicians and associates.

· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

· Execute preventative, predictive and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on all equipment utilized in the Company’s operation through assigned work orders in the CMMS and TPM card system.

· Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.

· Test electrical systems and circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and megohmmeter.

· Work with and train coworkers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

· Plan layout and installation of utilities, equipment, and fixtures based on job requirements and specifications.

· Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment.

· Work from ladders, scaffolds, power construction equipment, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

· Need to be able to look for problems in complicated electrical systems, isolate issues, and solve them. As well as read electrical blueprints and scan them for issues, making sure that they work before implementing.

Knowledge and Experience:

General Experience:

· Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as an electro-mechanical technician working in an industrial environment.

General Knowledge:

· Must have at least an Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechtronics, Robotics, Laser Technology or completion of a formal trade program (ex. Journeyman Electrician) or equivalent work experience.

· Advanced knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulics systems with advanced knowledge of electrical, VFD and PLC systems.

· Must be proficient using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, megohmmeter, computer, infrared camera, hand tools, scissor lift, forklift, lathe, welder, end mill and hydraulic press.

· Must have experience in automation and artificial intelligence.

· Able to replace linked chain with master links, laced belts, rubber bands for rollers, and belt applications that require specialty equipment (be able to follow direction of the equipment)

· Able to replace bearings, shafts, rollers and sprockets.

· Able to replace gearbox and motors.

· Able to drill, tap, and thread bolt holes properly.

· Able to use concrete hammer drill with anchors to secure equipment.

· Able to apply grease to lubrication points properly with proper tooling.

· Able to change out V-Belts for fans and work with pulley systems that supply those fans.

· Able to do basic plumbing, painting, and building repair work as it applies to facilities maintenance.

· Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work area, giving safety of self and others a priority.

· Follow all established safety practices and procedures, including reading and understanding material and safety data sheets, lockout policy, and entanglement policy.

· Use trade math with drawings.

· Ability to accurately use and read tape measure, steel rule, caliper, fixed-gauge measuring devices, micrometers, and other precision instrument, both metric and standard.

· Ability to understand and perform decimal/fraction/metric calculation and conversion.

· Meet, maintain or exceed quality standards.

· Maintain and promote positive attitude, teamwork and cooperation.

Work Environment:

· Able to work without direct supervision while completing tasks assigned.

· Manufacturing environment, with frequent exposure to wood dusts, and cabinet-making related materials such as wood glue, requiring eye protection.

· Exposure to tight spaces and on elevated platforms.

· Exposure to hot and cold temperatures due to non-climate controlled environment.

· Exposure to sounds over 85 dB, requiring ear protection.

· Frequent head/neck static position, rotation, flexion and extension.

· Frequent change in torso/back position, frequent stooping, bending and twisting.

· Frequent sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, and climbing of stairs and ramps.

· Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching and carrying.

· Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive-motion tasks for the duration of working shift.
