This is a heartwarming opportunity for compassionate providers who love making a difference! We work with members throughout Wisconsin to find providers that fit each of their needs. Our goal is to help individuals be in more control of their own supports and to have a say in who is assisting them. This helps them to stay in their own homes as long as possible.
We are looking for a dependable, patient, and engaging Respite Provider to spend one-on-one time with a Teen Male while providing his parents with a much-needed break. We are looking for someone who can develop a positive mentor-type relationship with this teen while helping him maintain his routine, build daily living skills, participate in activities, and develop a healthy balance between responsibilities and electronics. This teen enjoys having fun, joking around, and spending time doing activities that interest him. Some of his favorite activities include going to the library, visiting hobby stores, playing video games, and playing board and card games such as Pokémon and Magic. Respite will be provided in this family home, provider home, and community. Location · Weekday: In the Client's Home in Stanley, WI. · Weekends: In the Respite Provider Home. Wages · $14.13 per hour (shifts under 8 hours) · $207.45 per day (shifts over 8 hours) Schedule · 10 hours a week. · 2 days a month. · Weekdays: Preferably noon (daytime hours) evening afternoon and night · Occasional Weekends and Overnights. · Flexible schedule to be determined by family. Responsibilities · Provide 1:1 consistent safety and supervision. · Spend quality one-on-one time with the teen. · Maintain a predictable schedule and routine. · Encourage chores, room cleaning, hygiene, recreation, and community activities. · Assist with developing cleaning skills by giving one instruction or step at a time. · Provide supervision and reminders for hygiene as needed. · Maintain reasonable limits on electronics and encourage other activities throughout the day. · Encourage positive coping and anger-management strategies. · Encourage independence and encourage positive coping and anger-management strategies. JOB REQUIREMENTS · Authorized to work in the U.S. · Criminal/Caregiver background check. · Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance required. · Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and/or mental health needs is preferred. · Previous experience as a respite provider, caregiver, direct support professional, mentor, or similar role is also preferred.
