Interiors Estimator (Commercial)

POSITION OVERVIEW:  The Interiors Estimator prepares accurate, competitive estimates for commercial interior construction projects, with emphasis on metal stud framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling systems. This role reviews plans and specifications, completes detailed digital takeoffs, develops labor and material pricing, evaluates project risk, and prepares proposals that support profitable growth. Proven working experience with On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid is required.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.

- Prior commercial interiors estimating experience involving metal stud framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling systems, preferred

- Demonstrated proficiency using On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid is required.

- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, addenda, schedules, and bid documents.

- Working knowledge of interior construction materials, labor production, installation methods, and applicable building requirements.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related business software.

- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.

- Clear written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.

- Ability to manage multiple bid opportunities and meet firm deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Estimating and Takeoff

- Review drawings, specifications, bid instructions, addenda, and contract requirements to determine the complete scope of work.

- Perform accurate digital quantity takeoffs in OST and develop detailed estimates in Quick Bid.

- Estimate labor, materials, equipment, production rates, waste, freight, and other direct project costs.

- Prepare estimates for metal stud framing, drywall assemblies, insulation, acoustical ceilings, and related interior scopes.

- Identify scope gaps, conflicts, constructability concerns, and project risks; prepare RFIs or seek clarification as needed.

- Maintain current labor factors, material pricing, assemblies, and cost information within estimating systems.

Bid Management and Vendor Coordination

- Solicit, review, and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations for completeness and alignment with bid requirements.

- Track bid invitations, due dates, addenda, clarifications, and submission requirements.

- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and scope reviews when required.

- Develop alternates, value-engineering options, and pricing revisions in coordination with sales and operations leadership.

- Prepare clear proposals that define scope, pricing, exclusions, qualifications, and alternates.

- Submit bids accurately and on time through required electronic platforms or customer processes.

Collaboration and Project Turnover

- Coordinate with project managers, field leaders, sales personnel, and executives throughout the estimating process.

- Participate in estimate reviews to confirm pricing strategy, risk, schedule considerations, and proposal completeness.

- Support customer follow-up, scope clarification, and post-bid negotiations as requested.

- Prepare complete turnover packages for awarded projects, including estimate detail, takeoffs, quotes, assumptions, and key correspondence.

- Maintain organized estimating files and accurate bid records for reporting and historical cost analysis.

- Compare estimate assumptions with project results to improve future pricing and estimating accuracy.

Compensation

- Total annual compensation (base salary + performance-based bonus) commensurate with experience: $65-75k

- Cell phone or $45 per month towards the cost of your personal cell phone
