Role Description

The Director of Money Movement is a key member of the Everyday Banking Leadership team in Canadian Personal Banking and reports to the Head & VP, EDB Products, Money Movement and Value Proposition. The Director is responsible to manage the portfolio of innovative money movement products for retail customers, including 4 key areas: 1) Domestic payments (eTransfers, Bill Payments); 2) International transfers (Wires, Global Money Transfer, Western Union, Fx); 3) Debit card management (digital enhancements and capabilities) and 4) Emerging payments (RTR and Pay by Bank). This role leads a team of 4 Product Managers and growing rapidly.

The Director develops and implements product strategies to drive sales and revenue growth of existing banking services, launch new products to market, optimize profitability and improves the customer experience. This role demands product management acumen, E2E responsibility of the product portfolio lifecycle, from ideation, implementation, development, and launch. This leader brings innovation into the money movement portfolio, carries out competitive analysis, monitors product performance and assesses problems to develop and implement solutions. The Director always takes into consideration “the voice of our customers” at every decision, securing the best product performance with the ideal digital experience.

This role has P&L accountability, secures accurate revenue and transaction forecasting, uses revenue levers, performs business casing, is aware and implements different tactics to optimize/reduce costs, secures optimum ROI for the business, while managing product risks.

The Director has outstanding experience dealing and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the organization such as Digital, Marketing, Analytics, Technology, PMO, Fraud, Legal, Product Operations, Regulatory, Compliance, Treasury & Payments Solutions, Virtual Connect and Distribution Sales Force; as well as with other line of businesses, like Private Banking, Business Banking, and Commercial.

This leader also has great responsibility to manage and build strong relationships with strategic partners, like Interac, Mastercard and Western Union, among others. From time to time, this role also requires interaction and collaboration with external organisations, like Canadian Banking Association and Payments Canada to represent the bank at forums and whenever is required by the business. This position involves exploration of new payment trends worldwide and initiatives with external partners, such as fintech.

Key Accountabilities

1. Product Strategy

- Create, define and drive the 3-year strategic roadmap across Money Movement portfolio
- Proactively identify and assess new trends, that will drive the roadmap of new products
- Prioritize opportunities to improve digital capabilities and/or customer experiences

2. Product Management

- Launch new products and services to new and existing customers
- Lead the implementation of complex projects with cross functional teams, through ideation, requirements, implementation and change management
- Monitor progress against project plans to ensure completion on time and within budget
- Proactively address issues and/or obstacles in BAU and new product launches

3. Financial Management

- Full P&L ownership, track record of achieving and exceeding targets
- Explain financial results and forecast future performance
- Ensure actions to improve profitability and migrate customers through data
- Manage risk, and support the evolution of policies, procedures, and controls

4. Partnership Development

- Develop and nurture existing and new partnerships to maximize value for BMO
- Lead contract negotiations, always looking to maximize opportunities for improvement
- Work closely and collaborative with key partners, to improve product offering, enhance customer experience, while managing KPIs
- Partner with internal teams, like marketing, analytics, legal, procurement, compliance and regulations to drive best outcome for customers and the bank

Qualifications

Experience and Knowledge

- Undergraduate degree, MBA from a top tier school
- Over 10 years of experience in retail product management, in banking and/or telecommunications and/or management consulting
- 5-8 years of P&L and financial management acumen
- 5-8 years of partnership development experience
- 5-8 years of payments proficiency
- 5+ years leading cross functional teams
- Strong expertise in product management, product strategy and project delivery
- Solid track record delivering results in ambiguous and challenging situations
- Risk and Project management experiences an asset

Salary :
$120,000.00 - $215,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
