Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of our facility. Your primary responsibilities will include promptly and safely addressing all maintenance concerns, such as equipment breakdowns and troubleshooting issues. You will also conduct thorough follow-ups on maintenance tasks from the previous shift and perform routine shift rounds. By diligently completing operating work orders, you will contribute significantly to achieving optimal mill reliability and performance. Your expertise and proactive approach will be essential in maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Schedule: Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm & Friday 7am - 1pm

Hourly Pay Range: $26.50 - $30.00 depending on qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

JOB FUNCTIONS: (Job functions include but are not limited to the following)

- Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner and working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance related issues.

- Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long-term fix.

- Help develop Preventive Maintenance plans.

- Lead the troubleshooting and proper documentation (maintenance logbook) of all maintenance related items.

- Follow-up on outstanding maintenance shift issues from previous shift, enter appropriate work requests for required follow-up work.

- Provide recommendations for continuous improvement of troubleshooting resources (prints, manuals, job plans, tools, spare parts, etc.).

- Installation, manufacturing and calibration of equipment or machinery.

- Maintain lockout certifications as assigned.

- Other duties as assigned.

SCHEDULE DEMANDS

- Standard Operations: 9-hour shifts Monday - Thursday (7am - 4pm) & 6-hour shift Friday (7am - 1pm), however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

- Must be willing to work occasional overtime, participate in emergency callouts, and rotating shift schedules as needed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.

- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, stairs, and work from elevated platforms.

- Ability to work in confined spaces and around moving machinery.

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

- Reading computer screens or other electronic devices.

- Use of various hand and electrical tools or equipment.

- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including arc flash-rated clothing.

QUALIFICATIONS

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE

- 3+ years industrial mechanic experience required (including bearings, hydraulics, pumps, gearboxes).

- Experience in reliability techniques & knowledge of lubrication principles is an asset.

- Strong, demonstrated troubleshooting skills.

- Ability to use a variety of mechanical troubleshooting equipment and techniques (i.e. laser alignment).

- Ability to work extended hours as required.

- Ability to work at heights in a manufacturing environment required.

SKILLS, EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma/GED Preferred.

- Holds the equivalent of a certified Mechanic trade ticket or a two-year degree in Mechanical Studies combined with related experience.

- Closely related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.

- Valid Driver’s License.

- Mechanical proficiency; working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication.

- Troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and ability to identify and resolve mechanical issues.

- Knowledge of safety protocols, safe work practices, and hazard identification.

- Effective verbal and written communication, team collaboration, and accurate documentation.

- Time management, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work effectively.

- Manual dexterity and ability to safely lift, carry, and handle tools, equipment, and materials as required by the position.

- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.

- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
