## Responsibilities
Specialized medical professionals in the art of roentgenography. Patient care specialist that works as both individual-care-provider and as part of a diagnostic team under the guidance of a Diagnostic Supervisor & the Radiologists. Performs tasks abiding by P&P, State Regulations, & ALARA radiation safety principles. Utilizes x-ray photon producing equipment to image the human body. Works under potentially stressful situations i.e., trauma cases. Performs a variety of imaging procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with customers in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs. Participates in CQI activities. Accountabilities 1. Explains procedures thoroughly and answers patients' and patients' families’ questions to their satisfaction prior to beginning study.2. Ensures correct study was ordered prior to beginning study. Reviews physician orders, prior studies, all relevant transcription in HIS/RIS and relevant laboratory values. Conducts and records thorough patient interview.3. Reviews any unusual circumstances or problems with supervisor prior to beginning study.4. Reviews any patient medical safety issues or patient pain or discomfort with nurse and supervisor.5. Confirms correct procedure. Confirms physician order and protocols are correct prior to starting procedure. Ensures correct history for requested exam prior to starting procedure. Ensures correct patient identity prior to starting procedure.6. Optimizes patient flow based on equipment use. Prepares patients prior to bringing the patient into exam room. Uses support staff and nursing staff in an efficient manner. Uses assistance and devices as needed for safe patient transfer.7. Ensures patient comfort, privacy, and safety. Uses blankets, privacy curtains. Secures medical records, monitors patient at all times etc.8. Positions patient comfortably, ensures patient performed pretest instructions. Always completes entire imaging protocol including extra views before reviewing study with physician.9. Ensures study is charged/logged in RIS before turning study in to be read. Have correct orders and paperwork. Ensures history is complete and all complimentary paperwork required is complete.10. Cleans equipment between patient use. Keeps work area clutter free. Contacts Environmental Services immediately when needed.11. Keeps inventory on all supplies and turns requests in to supervisor. Responsible for ensuring no shortages of supplies.12. Ensures competency at all CHP facilities with P&P manual and associated tasks including processor QC, repeat rate, modifiers, computer applications, database management, understands and implements P&P changes, addresses P&P deficiencies with supervisor/manager, trains to correct deficiencies, maintains licenses and ensures that all continuing education is current, demonstrates competency in providing age specific care.13. Have all required materials stocked, clean and available for use. Have all studies logged and turned into physicians' reading station within 10 minutes of completion.14. Acts as a positive role model for appropriate behavior towards patient, physicians, guests, and fellow employees.15. Ensures patients and clinics are given correct modality-specific protocols and pre-test, and post-test instructions. Ensures patients are addressed in a polite tone of voice with appropriate titles of respect.16. Brings issues to supervisor as soon as they are noticed. Relays all new information or procedural changes to peers. Requests time off at least 1 month in advance.17. Knows proper collimation to minimize primary ray, utilization of radiation protection devices, posting of required data and forms, monitors visitors' actions in radiation Areas and ensures no food or drink in radiation areas.18. Maintains confidentiality of records, patients, employee, or medical center information at all times.19. Participates in Medical Imaging and corporate PI projects.20. Monitors and assures 100% compliance departmental quality assurance.21. Participates in all mandatory staff meetings, in-services, and training programs to ensure continued understanding of all departmental policies, procedures, and performance improvement processes.22. Performs OR fluoroscopic and portable procedures under the direction of the performing radiologist., Produces high quality studies as efficiently as possible., Ensures ALARA principle is followed. Understands and follows sterile procedure and aseptic technique.23. Performs diagnostic fluoroscopic and portable procedures under the direction of the performing radiologist. Produces high quality studies as efficiently as possible. Ensures ALARA principle is followed. Understands and follows sterile procedure and aseptic technique.24. Performs trauma procedures within specific time limits, produces high quality studies as efficiently as possible, ensures ALARA principle is followed, understands, and follows sterile procedure and aseptic technique.25. Accountable for correctly identifying their patient and selecting the correct imaging study from the Modality Work list or entering it manually if Work list is unavailable. Follows the imaging procedure, verifies accurate transfer of images into Synapse PACS prior to “completing” exam in Image Cast Centricity.26. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
Education• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required• Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology required Licenses and Certifications• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) required• CRT - State of California Certified Radiologic Technologist required• CRTFP - State of California Radiologic Tech Fluoroscopy Permit required within 180 days of hire or transfer into position• ARRT(R) - ARRT Radiography preferred
