About this role
The Human Resources Generalist serves as the primary local Human Resources support for New Mexico Solutions while operating as part of the RVA Human Resources team. This position supports employees and leaders through employee relations, onboarding, recruiting support, compliance tracking, HRIS accuracy, manager coaching, retention efforts, and general HR support. Additionally, they will work to ensure HR practices are timely, consistent, compliant, and aligned with organizational policies and expectations.

Essential Functions
Employee Relations and Manager Support
- Provide local HR support to New Mexico Solutions employees and supervisors regarding workplace questions, policy interpretation, attendance, conduct, performance concerns, and general HR matters.
- Coach supervisors on employee relations matters, documentation expectations, corrective action, performance conversations, and consistent application of HR policies.
- Assist with employee concerns, complaints, and routine workplace matters, involving the Vice President of Human Resources and New Mexico Solutions Executive Director as appropriate.
- Support managers in addressing employee concerns in a timely, professional, and consistent manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and appropriate documentation for employee relations matters.
Onboarding and Employee Experience
- Partner with the RVA HR team to support a smooth onboarding process for New Mexico Solutions new hires.
- Assist with local new hire readiness, including communication with supervisors, first-day preparation, onboarding follow-up, and completion of required documentation.
- Conduct new hire check-ins to identify concerns, answer questions, and support early retention.
- Help ensure employees understand HR processes, policies, expectations, and available support.
Recruiting and Workforce Support
- Partner with recruiters and New Mexico Solutions leadership to support local hiring needs, interview coordination, candidate communication, and workforce planning.
- Track hiring priorities, vacancies, start dates, and potential barriers to timely staffing.
- Provide local insight regarding market challenges, hard-to-fill positions, candidate feedback, and retention concerns.
- Support communication between New Mexico Solutions leadership and the RVA HR team regarding staffing needs and workforce trends.
Compliance, HRIS, and Documentation
- Support HRIS accuracy, employee records, personnel file documentation, position changes, supervisor updates, and required HR tracking.
- Assist with completion and follow-up of required trainings, policy acknowledgments, licensure or credential tracking, and other HR-related compliance items.
- Support audit readiness related to personnel files, onboarding documentation, training records, and employment compliance.
- Identify documentation gaps, process inconsistencies, or compliance concerns and communicate them to HR leadership.
Leave, Benefits, and Workers Compensation Support
- Serve as a local point of contact for basic employee questions related to leave, benefits, accommodations, workplace injuries, and HR processes.
- Assist with gathering initial information and connecting employees and managers with the appropriate RVA HR team member for FMLA, ADA, PWFA, medical leave, benefits, workers compensation, and other specialized HR matters.
- Support communication with managers regarding approved work restrictions, return-to-work expectations, and HR guidance.
Engagement, Retention, and Culture
- Serve as a visible and accessible HR presence for New Mexico Solutions employees and leaders.
- Assist with employee engagement efforts, recognition activities, retention initiatives, and HR communication.
- Conduct stay interviews, listening conversations, and other employee touchpoints as assigned.
- Identify trends related to turnover, morale, supervision, communication, or employee experience and share feedback with HR and New Mexico Solutions leadership.
- Support a workplace culture that reflects New Mexico Solutions mission, values, professionalism, and commitment to service.
Training and Process Improvement
- Support HR-related training for employees and supervisors, including topics such as attendance, documentation, workplace conduct, performance management, harassment prevention, and policy compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve local HR processes, communication, onboarding, documentation, and manager follow-through.
- Assist with developing local HR tools, checklists, templates, and workflows that improve consistency and efficiency.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of HR practices, employment documentation, employee relations, onboarding, and compliance preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and communicate professionally with employees and leaders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through timely, and work effectively with both local and centralized teams.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and general office technology preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in Human Resources, employee relations, healthcare, behavioral health, or a related field preferred.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel between agency locations as needed.
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout office and facility environments.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or move equipment and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting performed with assistance.
- Ability to use computers, phones, and other standard office and technology equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to travel between agency locations and access various areas of facilities as needed.
- Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
