Description

Amazon Japan Operations' HR division (PXTX: People Experience and Technology Excellence) is seeking a Project Manager for its Central Management Team (CMT) to lead the fundamental reforms that make HR operations scalable.

This is not a routine-operations role. You will independently build and drive a new HR model that balances standardization and innovation: leading technology adoption in collaboration with the Global team, stabilizing operations, and building the foundations required to respond to an increasingly complex business and diversifying employment types (such as Ready employees and Wave). You will thrive in uncertain, changing environments and demonstrate leadership by autonomously engaging stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead technology and tool adoption in collaboration with the Global team, and drive rollout and governance across the PXT organization
- Stabilize operations and build the data and process foundations required to respond to a complex business and diversifying employment types (Ready, Wave, etc.)
- Own fundamental, not incremental, reform: redesign how work is done through automation, standardization, and self-service, moving the team from routine execution toward project-led improvement
- Identify improvement opportunities from data ahead of problems arising, verify feasibility, and drive them to implementation as projects
- Personally lead complex HR Generalist work (labor management, organizational development, talent management) and serve as a role model
- Build and strengthen partnerships with site managers and multiple HR teams across business units; negotiate resource allocation and build consensus on priorities
- Support the growth and development of team members

A day in the life
You partner with HRBPs, Operations managers, and the Global PXT/Tech team to move CMT from routine execution to project-led improvement. A typical day blends driving a technology or automation project forward, checking feasibility of a new improvement opportunity surfaced from data, aligning stakeholders across multiple sites, and coaching a team member. You balance stabilizing today's operations with building the foundations that let PXTX scale as the business and employment types grow more complex.

About the team
PXTX (People Experience and Technology Excellence) was established in June 2024 to deliver best-in-class HR partnership through standardized operations and innovative solutions. Differentiating from the traditional model of HR embedded within individual departments, PXTX drives HR Generalist functions across multiple business units. The Central Management Team (CMT) is its engine for scale, sharpening operations and leading the "offense" agenda: technology enablement, fundamental process reform, and the foundations that let the organization grow.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of HR work within an international, fast-paced, and customer-driven environment experience
- Knowledge of local labor law
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Experience managing small to medium scale projects
- Experience developing operational processes and data insights

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in Human Resources Management
- Experience managing and leading employees
- Experience supporting hourly employee client group
- Experience working cross-functionally with tech and non-tech teams, including operations
- Experience leading and transforming highly effective organizations
