Safety Lead

Job Summary
Under limited or general supervision, the Safety Lead plays a vital role in creating a safe, healthy, and high‑performing work environment through effective administration of the Industrial Safety Program. Partnering closely with management, this position provides daily guidance to plant personnel and contractors to ensure consistent Industrial Safety compliance and support safe execution of all activities across the site.

What You Will Do
In this role, the Safety Lead builds strong working relationships with personnel across the organization to identify, evaluate, and control potential workplace hazards. They coordinate closely with other teams to ensure all procedures integrate sound Industrial Safety principles and lead inspections, analyses, and evaluations of planned work, plant facilities, contractor activities, equipment, and materials to determine accident potential. The Safety Lead assists with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of Industrial Safety training materials—including training plans, self‑study guides and testing modules—and delivers classroom instruction as needed. Serving as the Competent Person for scaffolds and the Subject Matter Expert for all Industrial Safety Programs, they actively participate in Pre‑Job Briefs, Lockout/Tagout reviews, and Job Hazard Analysis activities. The role also includes preparing materials for safety meetings, developing written safety bulletins, and performing peer reviews of plant procedures. The Safety Lead leads formal Industrial Safety program assessments, conducts accident and incident investigations, prepares required reports, reviews Statements of Work for contractor and construction activities, and completes monthly injury/illness reporting. They apply federal and state regulatory requirements during daily oversight, exercise full stop‑work authority when needed, support assigned projects, and keep management informed of any emerging safety concerns. When required, they may also review analytical data and interpret results to ensure compliance with safety‑related standards.

We'd Love to Hear from Candidates with
• Able to obtain and maintain a “Q” level security clearance.
• Associate’s Degree in Industrial/Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Four years of safety experience.

A Successful Candidate Also Brings
• B.S. Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, with ten (10) or more years of experience.
• Experience in Industrial Hygiene.

Pay:

Estimated Starting Base Salary Range: $76,010 - 126,683. This position is incentive eligible. Centrus considers several factors when extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. While the posted range reflects the anticipated hiring range for this position, compensation above the range may be considered for candidates with exceptional qualifications and directly relevant experience.

This position will require a pre­-employment background check and a pre-employment drug test.

In addition, once employe, employees will become part of a random drug testing program and may also be tested in the event of any incident causing injury or causing damage to property, or if it is determined that there is a reasonable suspicion the employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol. This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a Q security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
