Position Overview:
The Sr. Field Performance Engineer identifies, prioritizes, and leads the resolution of emerging product quality and safety issues using field performance data, structured problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Analyzing warranty, service, customer experience, and other available data, you will determine issue scope, root cause, customer impact, and corrective action. You serve as a customer-focused technical leader, partnering with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, Quality, and program teams to implement sustainable countermeasures and incorporate lessons learned into future product development. This role offers ownership of field performance for an entire off-road vehicle platform and the opportunity to drive measurable improvements in product performance, dealer experience, and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Own the quality performance of an entire off-road vehicle platform, including warranty, dealer experience, and customer experience, and report monthly performance against enterprise goals to management and senior management.
• Monitor warranty, service, customer experience, NPS, and other field performance channels to identify emerging trends and quality concerns.
• Use data analysis, statistical methods, and engineering judgment to define issue scope, customer impact, priority, and business impact.
• Lead or support hands-on, structured problem solving to determine root causes and develop, validate, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions for complex product quality issues.
• Lead warranty topic projects through implementation as running product changes or integration into planned future programs, transitioning long-term corrective actions to the appropriate functional owners when required.
• Lead customer and field quality meetings that establish ownership, accelerate decisions, maintain accountability, and drive cross-functional closure of key issues.
• Influence technical and non-technical stakeholders without direct authority by using data, sound judgment, clear communication, timely escalation, and alignment on priorities and solutions.
• Serve as the technical authority for assigned field issues by communicating issue scope, consequence, root cause status, customer and business impact, and the recommended path forward.
• Partner with new product introduction and project teams to identify quality risks, define project goals and system specifications, and incorporate corrective actions and lessons learned into future product programs, requirements, standards, and validation activities.
• Capture root causes, corrective actions, and full-circle learning in design standards, FMEAs, validation plans, and other applicable technical documentation, and share that knowledge across products, systems, and peer teams.
• Develop and maintain early-warning methods, monitoring tools, performance metrics, processes, and standards that improve issue detection, technical documentation, issue management, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare quality, warranty, project status, and action-register reporting for recurring business reviews and leadership decisions, provide field data to engineering teams, benchmark competitive designs, and support related testing and validation activities.
Desired Competencies:
• Collaboration: You work effectively with others across functions and levels, contributing to shared goals while respecting different perspectives.
• Problem Solving: You identify issues, assess root causes, and implement practical solutions that balance speed, quality, and risk.
• Data & Analytical Literacy: You interpret data, metrics, or reporting to inform decisions, identify trends, and measure outcomes relevant to your role.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience, including demonstrated hands-on root cause analysis, structured problem solving, and corrective-action leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze field or quality data, lead cross-functional technical work, manage multiple priorities, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Customer-focused decision-making, mechanical aptitude, sound judgment, attention to detail, initiative, learning agility, adaptability, and resilience when managing evolving or uncertain priorities.
• Experience with vehicle systems, off-road products, consumer use cases, OEM product design and development, or component manufacturing processes is preferred.
• Experience with CAPA, FMEA, system specifications, design reviews, GD&T, dimensional stack-ups, product validation, instrumentation, testing, fabrication, CAD, or production drawing release is preferred.
• Experience with Power BI, statistical or predictive analysis, data acquisition, and engineering or problem-solving tracking tools is preferred.
• Ability to work hands-on in office, shop, laboratory, production, dealer, and field environments and, where required, operate or ride applicable vehicles or equipment to understand customer use and application needs.
• Ability to travel up to 10%, including domestic and occasional international travel, depending on product, plant, dealer, and project requirements.
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
