What You Can Expect:
The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) provides operational and clinical leadership for the Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Clinic, Pre-Operative (Pre-Op), and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) of approximately 35 staff, roughly 30 FTE’s. This role partners closely with the Surgical Services leadership team to ensure safe, efficient, patient-centered care and supports the daily operations of these departments through staff engagement, resource management, and continuous process improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of the PAT Clinic, Pre-Op, and PACU to ensure optimal patient flow, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency.
- Supporting staffing needs by facilitating break coverage, coordinating staffing resources, and securing appropriate staffing levels to meet patient care demands and productivity expectations.
- Managing staff schedules, timecard approvals, payroll processes, and productivity monitoring to ensure appropriate resource utilization and fiscal stewardship.
- Collaborating closely with charge nurses to coordinate daily operations, anticipate barriers, and maintain effective departmental workflows.
- Leading daily department huddles, communicating organizational updates, safety initiatives, operational priorities, and hospital process changes while fostering staff engagement and accountability.
- Providing leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development support to team members, including recognition of positive performance and addressing behavioral or performance concerns in accordance with organizational policies.
- Participating in interdisciplinary meetings and committees, partnering with leaders across the organization to improve patient care, operational effectiveness, and patient experience.
- Collaborating with Assistant Nurse Managers and leaders across Surgical Services to support department-wide initiatives, staffing needs, and operational priorities.
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with physicians, anesthesia providers, perioperative teams, and ancillary departments to promote teamwork and exceptional patient care.
- Supporting quality improvement initiatives, regulatory compliance, patient safety programs, and best practice implementation throughout the perioperative continuum.
This leadership role requires strong operational expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively balance patient care priorities, staff needs, and organizational objectives within a fast-paced perioperative environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience: 3 years RN- Pre-Op, Post/PACU and/or PAT RN experience is highly preferred to be considered
- Licenses/Certifications: RN license required
