Within our practice, you’ll be introduced to how risk-based design brings together security planning, physical security, and electronic security to develop layered protection strategies. You’ll gain exposure to performance-based solutions—from secure site planning to physical hardening, access control, surveillance, and detection—and how these measures integrate with security operations.

Your Role

As an Electronic Security Intern in our Protective Design & Security practice, you will support risk-led security strategies and electronic security design for facilities and campuses across a range of sectors. You will gain exposure to how surveillance, access control, detection, and supporting infrastructure are integrated into the built environment as part of a coordinated, tailored security solution.

What You'll Do

- Support design and planning tasks for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related security systems.
- Assist with security technology studies, infrastructure coordination, and design documentation.
- Help prepare reports, drawings, device schedules, and technical narratives.• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, IT stakeholders, and physical security specialists in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Participate in on-site assessments, field surveys, and construction-phase activities.
- Develop foundational knowledge of cabling, power, and networks for security systems.
- Build familiarity with TT’s collaborative culture, service offerings, and interdisciplinary approach to electronic security, operations, and resilience.

What You'll Bring

- Current undergraduate or graduate student in electrical engineering, systems engineering, security engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- Interest in electronic security, low-voltage systems, and security technology integration.• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with design, visualization, and documentation tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ARC GIS, Unreal Engine, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $25 - $35 hourly.  Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by District of Columbia Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
