Job Responsibilities:

Role Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical hardware within a project, as well as coordinating validation testing and managing the entire group. They utilize systems such as Windchill and SAP to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule. Additionally, they lead global process improvements, team development and management, and handle project escalations.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive electronics development for core automotive ADAS products. (Radar, Camera, thermal sensor and so on)
- Translate program needs and top-level requirements into electrical requirements. Identify and develop areas of innovation, unique selling points, and cost-saving.
- Design electrical hardware in compliance with Magna processes and best practices. Perform analysis and simulation as needed. Generate requisite documentation meticulously.
- Verify electrical requirements at component and bench level testing.
- Work cross-functionally to represent electrical needs to other stakeholders: Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Algorithms, Systems, etc.
- Lead Electrical sub-team as needed within the project team: planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting for project-specific electrical activities.
- Knowledge transfer and support to aid in core design handoff to application-specific programs.
- Provide team leadership and escalation support.
- Prepare Validation departmental budgets and manage spending to budget.
- Seek methods to improve validation efficiency and effectiveness including definition and tracking of KPI targets.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts for products, processes, and programs
- Encourages innovation within department and cross-functional teams
- Responsible for development and maintenance of Magna internal Validation test equipment and capabilities to support engineering development and certified Validation testing.
- Ensure that programs are properly resourced (both staffing, and skills required) with respect to validation activities.
- Ensure the local validation team is trained and skilled in using common methodology, tools, and processes.
- Responsible for validation quote response for new project acquisition in alignment with global strategy.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, reward and disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals of direct reports.
- Participates in continuous improvement and lessons learned efforts for products, tools, processes, and programs.
- Support root cause analysis of failure found during development process or in production.
- Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of validation team in development and release of all relevant validation deliverables in compliance with the product development process and customer expectations.
- Develop relationships with external laboratories and customers including review of certifications and knowledge of OEM Validation test procedures.
- Maintain and implement the ISO 17025 Validation Laboratory Quality Operating System
- Coordinate internal audits for the Validation Laboratory.
- Coordinate annual Management Review of the ISO 17025 Validation Laboratory Quality Operating System.
- Ensures compliance to Company procedures (e.g., Processes and Work Instructions) and applicable standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949, ISO/IEC TR 15504, ISO 26262, etc).

Key Qualifications/Requirements

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Master’s preferred).

Experience

- 8+ years’ experience in automotive electronics design (or in closely related fields).

- Strong understanding of EMC compliance testing and implications for automotive electronics design.
- Strong understanding of circuit board design and associated work products (WCCA, DFMEA, BOM, test reports) generated during the development cycle.
- Expert in design tools such as Altium Designer or Nexus, SPICE, Hyperlynx, etc. Expert schematic capture, analog and digital circuit design. Strong in reviewing PCB layout.
- Expert in interfacing with quick-turn turnkey contract manufacturers.
- Great with bench equipment like scopes, spectrum analyzers, soldering and rework equipment. Hands-on attitude.
- Experience of designing for automotive ADAS applications.
